But one thing does not exclude the other. Not being able to appreciate the art of Tim Buckley is a limitation of yours that perhaps, with time, you will overcome! It’s obvious that the "songs" are elongated... he was truly pushing the boundaries of the song form itself! He was in "virgin" territories, and there is a sense of discovery, wonder, and freedom in his music that seems to envelop the author himself even before the listener, as if the enchantment revealed itself to him in the purest and most direct form possible, flowing unfiltered from his voice. I find all of this unique and extraordinary... in a word: GREATNESS

But you see, it’s a matter of poetic intensity, of artistic depth... OVERALL, Tim's work is more complete, complex, profound, adventurous, and exploratory. Assuming that it was just "luck" on the father's part to live long enough to give birth to the absolute masterpieces "Lorca," "Happy Sad," and "Starsailor" (but I also include "Blue Afternoon" and the first two albums "Tim Buckley" and "Goodbye and Hello"), the fact remains that Jeff was only able to create "Grace." You might say: is that not enough? No, not at all, but just one Starsailor musically is worth 6-7 Graces. And a Lorca is worth 3-4 Graces...then with Tim you see an evolution, a progression; with Jeff it seems that the inspiration definitely declined after Grace...I really don’t think he would have been able to "repeat" it!

In comparison to the father, yes. Compared to others, a giant as well.

Jeff is a dwarf compared to his father.

A fantastic record that, along with the contemporaneous and perhaps even more beautiful "Serenity" and "Anniversary" (the latter live, same lineup), forms a lethal triptych of the best Getz from the late '80s. I missed this back then!! Great job Andrea, I agree with everything... how are you??
