Jeff Buckley Grace

But why every time we talk about Jeff does his father come up? What does that have to do with anything? I haven't read the other seven reviews on Grace, sure it takes some guts to write the eighth one ;) Anyway, I didn't dislike it! A stunning voice, and even compositional-wise it was quite good; it doesn't matter if he didn't write some of the songs, clearly he has strong interpretative skills and chose very varied material. "Dream Brother" is the gem of the album.

@bjorky: if you know little about "classical" music, you could start with Chopin, for example. There's nothing complicated, it's all melody. And it's heartbreaking. The perfection of romanticism, in the noblest sense of the term. I definitely recommend at least the Nocturnes, which have been well reviewed by Sotanath.

@editors: sorry, but this is not the cover... I'm talking about a single CD (always Deutsche Grammophon), in which the only performer is Pollini and where the Youth Mazurkas are not played. It's part of the "The Originals" series. (at which point you might think: what a fool, you could have thought of that!). @Hal: in my opinion, the melodic beauty of Chopin's music is able to surpass, in many cases, all other composers. While ranking them doesn’t make sense and is far from my intention, I believe he is the best at making his soul sing.

Pippo, there are two sessions.. at least that's what it says in the registration notes. The story about the dentures is funny!

The de-server placed between us has… grrr… something tells me that you are married and that you think I’m a lecher. A lecher, no… an esthete, yes… goodbye, not a cultivated rose!

Two days in the sense of two sessions: May 11 and October 26 '56. "Cookin'" and "Relaxin'" contain only material from the last session, the other two a bit of both. I don't remember the order of publication. Returning to the musical discourse, you can really hear how Coltrane is pushing to expand and stretch the possibilities of the chords to the max. He sounds a bit caged... in the following decade, he will break the bars!

It's wise to recommend buying these masterpieces in bulk! Beautiful "Workin'", featuring immortal versions of "It Never Entered My Mind" and "In Your Own Sweet Way". "Steamin'", with the blistering drum solo present in "Salt Peanuts". "Relaxin'" with "If I Were A Bell" and "Oleo". The gems are truly countless in these four records, and to think they were recorded in two (2!) days, as if they were live sets in a club...all in the first take! Things that are now inconceivable in the music industry.

Hampton Hawes and Fred Hersch are two artists whose records I've been trying to order for months, but they are always out of stock or just impossible to find... so unfortunately, I’ve never had the chance to listen to them.

..I fell in love with yyyou..becausee..I couldn't stay aaalone anymore..:)Now I'm going to break away from the usual names, it's just that at first I wanted to do a little "advertising" for the cornerstones. I'll make up for it in the near future. I'll write something about Jason Moran too, for sure!
