The problem is that you (people like you) have a kilo and a half of plum jam instead of a brain.

Thank you all! The album won't disappoint you, it's a safe bet! Muffin pointed out this website where you can find a lot of jazz stuff at good prices, including this double album for 9.90 euros. You can even pay cash on delivery: www.suonieritmi.com. Zion chi-cosa is Jay-Z? From the name, it sounds like hip hop stuff... like US3 who sampled "Cantaloupe Island" by Herbie Hancock? In that case, it didn't turn out to be a total mess!

P.S.: but wasn't the real Sacher cake the one from the hotel of the same name? I remember they used to serve it on a plate with a mountain of whipped cream on the side... what great memories Vienna! Third year of high school trip, the teachers let us roam around as we pleased, and the Wiener Schnitzel (how do you spell it?) at Augustiner Keller, and the joints, and the alcohol, and flirting... but above all... VIENNA! It's great to live there, isn't it?

Hi uxo! I watched this movie on its first airing when I was in my full fourth-fifth year of high school... a desire to break through in life, to become someone, to be successful! Then comes the good Gabriellini embodying depression, a sense of failure, cosmic pessimism, resignation... but above all, INDIFFERENCE towards any situation that presents itself. What a drag, we need to REACT when the conditions aren’t ideal to make it! Enough with the rhetoric of passive acceptance of this inevitable fall into mediocrity!! Good review and the film is quite decent overall, but I hate the reality it represents and what it communicates to me.
John Coltrane My Favorite Things

Summertime is the most powerful piece of the most powerful sax. You could talk about "heavy jazz" ;). The comparison with Master Of Puppets is not only appropriate but spot on! Among other things, the chords played in the exchanges by the piano are very similar, if not identical, to those in Master. My Favorite Things, however, is not a two-bit nursery rhyme; I find that the original also has its full musical dignity and harmonic modulations that are far from trivial. Moreover, it is a piece that lends itself to multiple interpretations precisely because of its structure. Brad Mehldau recently played a wonderfully dark and full of pathos version at his solo concert at the auditorium in Rome...
Charles Mingus The Black Saint And The Sinner Lady

Mingus's masterpiece. Same level as Kind Of Blue and A Love Supreme, you’re right! But you’re wrong about Mingus’s piano technique, which is certainly not superb, at most "interesting" or atypical. Moreover, I don’t see many similarities with Coltrane in Charlie Mariano’s solos; in fact, I find them very different, just as the musical worlds of Mingus and Coltrane are. Coincidentally, the two never played together, and Coltrane even said that he wouldn’t have liked to do so, as he felt Mingus’s music was "alien"! Anyway, great idea to review it. P.S.: I once listened to it 5 times all afternoon...with each listen, new details!

Dear Muffin, I'm leaving you this address of a shop in Perugia also specialized in jazz that seemed very well stocked: mipatrinimusica@virgilio.it I went there this summer during Umbria Jazz and found half a dozen titles that I had been desperately searching for in Rome for months.

@Zion: I know that alberto88 didn't analyze the individual tracks, nor was it really necessary, but he could have spent a few words on those he deemed most significant. In short, to not make it too long, he made it too short! He himself says: "In conclusion, without examining the 14 (!) tracks that make up the album, a very pleasant record, etc." and then he just leaves it at that, kind of briefly.
