Perfect and professional review! I don't rate the work because I haven't seen it in full, yet I remember feeling a sense of unfulfilled anticipation, a dissatisfied longing. It could be a two and a half...

I haven't seen the movie, and since I live right in EUR, I'm extremely curious to see it!! However, I read the book a couple of times as a child, and I found it beautiful. Even though I believe it's impossible not to commit suicide in Robert Neville's conditions!

I'm copying and pasting a recent post of mine: "The most challenging role to play was that of the father, perhaps because he had to appear simultaneously a monster from spider's perspective, yet at the same time 'normal' (as he indeed was) in the eyes of the audience. Miranda Richardson delivers a remarkable performance with her two antithetical roles (the caring mother and a vulgar whore), and Ralph Fiennes is truly superb in never making the poor protagonist's continuous ticks and stammering caricatural or exaggerated."

Sorry, but how can you say that Fiennes is only AVERAGE in his performance??? The most terrible thing for Spider is when he realizes the truth...Great film, 4.5 stars.

Thank you all! So kind of you, Muff... I found this on suonieritmi! Anyway, I made a mistake with the birth date, which is 1934, not 1930. Editors, would you be so kind as to correct it? Thank you in any case.

The story that connects me to this film is very similar to yours! As a child, I also watched it often on VHS, and now my copy of the film is in an old dusty cabinet...beautiful film, to be rediscovered as you rightly say! The scene with the hat rack is a very clever idea, and the murder scene perfectly captures the personalities of each avenger, reflecting their "style" in delivering the stab. If I remember correctly, the film also has a very refined soundtrack.

It seems to me that the bass he uses on Zahra, for example, are very rich and full-bodied... and the tone also seems interesting to me! Well, de gustibus.

You had already wasted 2 hours at the cinema... couldn't you spare the other 2 that you must have taken to write the "review"? ;-) Who made you do it?
Oscar Peterson The Way I Really Play

Hi Jake, thanks! Muff, in fact, one could easily review either of the two you mentioned (both are beautiful, perhaps the most "classic" works of Peterson), but I liked this one so much that I chose it. By the way, as I wrote in the postscript of the review, I bought it on the very day of his death (without knowing he had passed away!), and it was a last-minute decision because I was about to choose another CD by a different artist! It also served as the soundtrack for my little Christmas trip; when we were returning to the hotel, the mini speakers blasted it everywhere, even during the romantic moments ;-) So there’s an emotional connection!
