Yes, why jazz fusion? Desade, you forgot that masterpiece of Billy Elliot ;-)

Thanks, Jake, and sorry for not replying sooner! I only knew this album by name, I didn’t know anything else. From what little I’ve heard (Presenz), I agree with you that he is a musician more focused on group sound and composition rather than on guitar skills.

Welcome! I know Torn's recent "Presenz" from ECM, equally utopian and interesting. Personally, I prefer reviews that teach something new, that contain a bit more objective information rather than subjective feelings, especially when discussing less known artists, but that's a matter of taste (anyway, I liked yours!). For example, without going into details, the bare minimum would be to mention the year of the album, to frame it (even roughly) within a creative phase of the artist in question (early steps? maturity? transition?), to identify a bit of the character of the album (experimental? instant classic? turning point? peak of the career? mainstream? cult album? forgotten masterpiece?...) and thus give a more defined identity to the subject of the review.

I know that version! Body And Soul is the true testing ground for all great saxophonists, ever since Coleman Hawkins recorded it in '39... basically, there always comes a moment in a sax player's career when they encounter this piece. I have about 25 different versions of it, and among the most beautiful is definitely a solo piano version by Bud Powell! That's the beauty of jazz... same song, infinite possibilities, infinite viewpoints.

To assert with such certainty that the world would be worse off without the Church (or better with it) is quite a risky statement! In short, you say that "a well-founded hypothesis is that since the world has taken the trend of going against the current and condemning the Church, the world has gotten worse (the facts speak for themselves…)", but I would be curious to know ON WHAT this hypothesis would be based, and above all: do you really think there is this "trend"? And that it is a trend, rather than perhaps a greater collective awareness of the heinous crimes committed by the Church as an institution and by individual churchmen, since the times of the selling of indulgences and the Inquisition? And "the world is getting worse," but compared to when? Were you there since the early twentieth century to say that? And the world wars, weren’t those times even more barbaric? Yet many hierarchs and heads of nations were convinced Catholics, believing they had God on their side, who knows… values are not transmitted by religions, but by one's environment. Dry, indifferent, and frantic environments like today’s produce dryness, indifference, and haste (that is, others become an obstacle to avoid, and there is no time left to THINK), regardless of one's beliefs or atheism; and indifference is even more dangerous than hostility. I believe in freedom and the sanctity of life and I cannot stand when someone abuses their power to try to shape and manipulate consciences (thus limiting the freedom of others) for POLITICAL ends, where the declared goal is humanitarian. Total hypocrisy from the Pope in my opinion. Peace, brother.

"In A Sentimental Mood", both the version by Sonny Rollins with the Modern Jazz Quartet and that by John Coltrane with Duke Ellington! "Body And Soul" by Coleman Hawkins, the 1939 version. "Ko-Ko", "Parker's Mood", "Lover Man" by Charlie Parker. "Fleurette Africaine" by Duke Ellington, the version on "Money Jungle" (in trio with Mingus and Roach!). And for Tyner, I would say "Contemplation" (imagine that ;-) ) rather than "Passion Dance". "Tabarka" by Jarrett, with Jan Garbarek (the European quartet), featured on "My Song".
