Frank Zappa Zoot Allures

But you know what I’m telling you? You made me listen to it again, after quite some time, and I got pretty excited! And then, an album that has "Tengo 'na minchia tanta" in it (even if it was added later).... It's A FIVE.

Yeah, I'm an aesthete, I listen to Jazz, Classical, Singer-Songwriters, and great Rock. So what? I'm proud of it! And having listened to so much of these genres, I've inevitably had to neglect the other stuff, including the kids' music that floods this site filled with ignorant and quarrelsome people. Does it make you feel so inferior that you keep bothering me? So far, you've only played at being a tough guy; not once have you said anything intelligent. Stop sticking to my ass, you have no real arguments. As for muscles, I'm an athlete, so what? You're a softy instead, you don't feel at all up to my level, do you? I understand. But screw you a little, DWARFS, you can't even reach the soles of my shoes!

Oh my God, I wasn't mentioning them as representatives of hip hop (and what the hell is Jovanotti, hip hop?), but as people making shitty music. I could have included Ligabue, Finley, Tokyo Hotel. Anyway, I give up, I've tried every way to get you out of YOUR prejudices against me, but that's fine, okay, I'm superficial and don't understand a damn thing about music, or anything else. But you are really aggressive, extremist, arrogant, and you have a very inflexible brain, unresponsive and not open to compromise. Sterile. I wish you to listen to hip hop your whole life. Goodbye.
Vladimir Ashkenazy Alexander Scriabin - Sonate per Pianoforte

And in fact, Giovanni, I had named the artist: Alexander Scriabin, album name: Piano Sonatas. As I always do, the composer comes first. But as editors always do, for reasons known only to them, they edit everything in this way... ;-)

Surely I agree. But beyond everything, it is precisely Allevi's musical proposal that does not pass the exam with flying colors, but rather with a strained pass, which only adds to the frustration; that is, one gets even angrier because besides having to breathe in the smoke, the roast has gone for a walk. Enough, I’ll no longer capitalize it. allevi. Amen to that.

Eh, but I'm good-looking, you're hard-headed! My non-vote is the PROOF that I have NO prejudices. The reason I didn't vote is that I know better than you that you can't judge SOLELY by appearances. Appearance is just a clue, sometimes important nonetheless, but if interpreted correctly, it can give starting impressions not so far from reality, so it’s a TOOL that the mind can and MUST use to DECIDE whether to approach or not a certain external substrate. It's not hard to understand, for example, that you judge the quality of food mainly by its appearance in an initial phase. If the meat is green with worms crawling on it, for God's sake, don’t tell me you wouldn’t judge it rotten WITHOUT NEEDING TO TASTE IT. It’s only when the appearance is not so extreme but still unappealing that the DOUBT arises, like in my case with these nerds annoying me. And so one throws in a joke, saying: "Hey, to me they look like garbage FROM THE OUTSIDE, maybe instead they’re good and tasty, WHO KNOWS!". Then, the decision to taste or not is subjective, and depends on 1) time 2) desire 3) priority of other more succulent dishes. Life is short, VERY SHORT, and you can't experience EVERYTHING. Something HAS TO BE DISCARDED, but if to be able to discard it you first force yourself to digest it in its entirety (or even partially), you end up WASTING TIME AND EATING BADLY 50% of the time. Do I need to listen to the entire discography of Pausini to form judgments about her crap music? Obviously not, snippets that randomly reach my eyes and ears from TV and radio are enough. It’s just a small part of her knowledge, but REPRESENTATIVE, damn. This is called statistics... after a while you understand the trend and avoid hurting yourself! If tomorrow she puts out a masterpiece, and someone I TRUST convinces me to listen to it, I will say it’s a masterpiece. But since I don’t know the reviewer, who could be a little beast, and since the hip hop I’ve heard so far has never appealed to me, I honestly feel a certain skepticism. Skepticism is not closure, prejudice, but healthy SURVIVAL INSTINCT! And a form of intelligence, my friend, despite you trying to show my superficiality. Skepticism means to FOLLOW YOUR OWN TASTES, to care for oneself. I don’t feel the need to listen to everything I don’t know, I do it only when I see a greater reward than the ā€œrisks.ā€ The risk is dedicating an hour to Puff Daddy instead of Scriabin, to Jovanotti’s latest instead of Shostakovich, to 50 Cent instead of Bill Evans... etc. etc. I hope I have finally been clear, brother. I greet you with serenity and a desire for communion!

On the subject of emotions, I partially agree, but I would add that there are pieces of music that can evoke emotions EVERY time you hear them, no matter how many times you've listened to them; throughout your life, they will give you the same effect. Second factor: the intensity of those emotions. Only great music can truly be heartbreaking and overwhelm you like a raging river (and even a simple song can do this; it’s not just about Rachmaninoff's Piano Concertos). Third factor: the EMOTIONAL SHADES, meaning the variety and complexity of emotions, the entire spectrum of diverse emotions, hybrid, inexplicable in words, sometimes never felt before, contrasting that music can provoke. A personal and subjective example: "Blue In Green" by Miles Davis gives me emotions 1) always 2) intensely 3) very simple, speaking to the heart (basically melancholy, suffering, yearning for something); some Bach fugues, on the other hand, give me emotions 1) often 2) not intense 3) complex and varied (but in this case, the enjoyment is mainly intellectual); "Aria" by Allevi gave me emotions 1) only the first time I listened to it 2) of medium intensity 3) negatively simple, banal, contrived.

ThirdEye, that Allevi makes pop music is evident to anyone who knows music, and it's also quality pop! It would be great if they played it on the radio instead of the usual garbage. What bothers me is that this music is presented as "serious" music, both by the media and the organizers, and, what’s worse, by the author who, KNOWING THE TRUTH, pretends to be a great artist (which he is not) and has built an ad hoc character to deceive the "borderline" audience, meaning those who don't stoop to listening to Ramazzotti but could never come to appreciate, I don't know, Mahler. But I don't care! His goal of revolutionizing music obviously isn’t there, but that's not a merit in my opinion ;-). Those who are truly great almost always aim to perfect or revolutionize existing musical forms or to create new ones. But he, as a skilled craftsman, knows where he can reach and where he can't. Does he lack the qualities of a true musical genius? Fine, then he has found a way to deceive the partially ignorant, a perfect audience for him and his music, and to make money. He is a mediocre who, in interviews, makes embarrassing statements, calling himself a genius, as reported by FUSILLO.

To me, anyone who doesn't understand the meaning of certain phrases or jokes (that I've also explained to you) is an idiot. I repeat: "a occhio e croce è un 1, o un 2 ;-)" means that the apparent premises seem terrible, but they're all TO BE VERIFIED! And in fact, I DIDN'T VOTE FOR IT!

Meanwhile, Pink Floyd, with all the good and bad they have done, after FORTY YEARS are featured on Debaser with more than a hundred reviews, if I’m not mistaken! They have certainly left a mark, if Allevi lasts four years that’s already something ;-) What can we say about the great composers? Their possible "disappearance" will depend solely on the progressive barbarism of the poor weak minds that surround us, not from a lack of content or artistic and universal value. And anyway, Bach's music, for example, has been around for over 250 years, doesn’t that seem little? If it has lasted this long, it means it has the character of universality. It’s eternal music, and it will be listened to for eternity or as long as mankind maintains a minimum of civility and dignity.
