It's not a great album and time will confirm it; the piano is not her instrument, and neither is the somewhat forced intimate setup she chose. This is my personal opinion, but I fear this work has been somewhat deliberately overrated. The problem is that there are plenty of female composers who did this kind of thing in the '90s, and they did it better (not necessarily due to artistic quality, because PJ is formidable in other contexts, but due to a natural predisposition to the instrument and personal setup). However, these women are often dismissed in these discussions with the term "whiny." I won’t name names because you all know who I’m talking about, but I don't want to delve deeper out of respect for my Reviewer Friend and to avoid too much controversy.

So, I’m responding to you and I won’t reply again until tomorrow because I’m going to work. You’re right about the fact that maybe the slightly caciara anecdotes can be annoying, and since I was part of it, I apologize. However, on the topic of listening, I'm sorry to disagree with you, but those who left negative comments about the person in question are people who (even though we don’t always have the same tastes) I actually respect precisely because they are fine listeners. I think the lady in question has indeed been listened to, just like I have, but maybe (rather, definitely) in terms of female songwriters (or female rockers, see it how you want) there are better options, and for once, objectively – a nasty word, I know…

Ashanti, you’ve received flattering (well-deserved) votes among other things in the review, so you should be satisfied with the profession of reviewer ;-), as for the comments, Love hasn’t exactly distinguished herself for “class” over the years, and those who sow the wind...

I fully support the analysis of the '80s, and as usual, it's excellently written.
