p.s: and if we want to be meticulous, I would say that Greenland can also be included, being a colony, still, of Denmark, even though the flag (a sun divided in half between white and red, with an inversely colored white and red background representing the land of endless days and also of endless nights) is not attributable.

Denmark, while not physically part of the Scandinavian peninsula, is considered Scandinavia in every respect due to cultural and historical reasons. Geographical Scandinavia includes Sweden, Norway, and Finland; to these, for reasons that are not geographical but of another kind, we add Denmark, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands. All six of these nations can be traced back to this unique tradition (I remind you that for many centuries they were a single pan-national state under the aegis of the Kingdom of Denmark at first, with the decay that ensued, and then Sweden) evidenced by their flags, which all share the presence of a Christian cross placed on the side, differing only in colors. That said, the judge's mistake is not so serious when considering purely geographical criteria; nice review, I am not familiar with the album.

@Curahhe: apart from "Learning to Fly," he has made the most popular ones because the audience demanded this setup; out of 90 million people, I think the majority know 3-4 of his songs, those proposed, and from this perspective, it was a justifiable choice. @Ocean: I don't quite agree with the term "pagliacciata"; popular culture manifests itself differently from country to country. In the States, the Super Bowl is part of popular culture, and participating is not synonymous with selling out; rather, on that day, the country almost comes to a halt as if it were a national holiday. It’s obvious that in a nation as large as the U.S.A., the names that can be chosen for the performance must correspond to characters that have a certain popular appeal; that's why it’s not uncommon for "mediocre" artists to be invited, but that’s part of the game. It’s not about being pure and tough; it’s pure folklore, and on that day, Americans forget: ethnicity, race, political orientation, etc., to enjoy a show that encapsulates those characteristics that, for better or worse, led to the American dream. I didn’t mention it in the review to avoid appearing pathetic, but it’s worth noting. In the stands, there are two fan bases (New York and New England, Boston) that historically don’t particularly like each other, yet at the moment they open the gates and let part of the audience onto the field, they mix freely without causing problems, and those left in the stands forget their rivalries and sing along to Petty’s songs. This goes far beyond the commercial sphere of the event; it intertwines with things like civic sense, sense of national unity, etc. That the Super Bowl is also a media event is undeniable; participating means significant publicity, and on the other hand, an artist is still a merchant, but there are far more insidious sales tactics from record labels to point the finger at. The Super Bowl, in its own way, is culture, very American and little of European derivation, so if viewed with our eyes, it may seem just like a gigantic circus, but it must be seen with a transoceanic spirit. Cheers!

@Sylvian: I find it very genuine and, moreover, in person it expresses something unique. As usual, "masterpiece" is a term that means everything and nothing, it depends on who labels whom, but I believe artists like Petty deserve extreme attention. @DoctorJ: But with that nickname, are you cheering for San Antonio? @Fusi: I don't follow Italian football much, I know that in Europe we are the strongest along with the Netherlands at the national level, but that's it...

I speak on behalf of cptgaio who thanks you for stopping by (and for the great rating, of course!). The review is about the Deluxe version; currently, there’s no news regarding the B-Sides, but Tori is putting out a series of recordings from her latest tour on her website: www.toriamos.com, where you can find real gems (from "Siren" to "Tombigbee" along with many other things released as singles or other non-full length items). Additionally, there’s a series of official bootlegs released a couple of years ago where you can find interesting stuff. There's my review on these pages where you can find more details: The Original Bootlegs - Tori Amos - Recensione di CaptainHowdy Bye!
