I don't share your view on AB, which I find to be a less political or socially characterized film than one might think, and I find The Simpsons simpler than what you say; perhaps this straightforwardness is the reason for their success. Further up, I read scandalized comments about the fact that the common people don't laugh at more cryptic jokes (like the one about incest), well, I believe the average viewer understands these jokes perfectly well, but they clearly no longer elicit laughter because we've heard them in a thousand variations. You talk about what will remain in memory; The Simpsons will definitely stay in memory, but for their episodes (at least for those up to Season 6), not for this movie, despite Spider-Pork.

"Out of Season" with Rustin Man is a beautiful album, I don't think there are any doubts about that. Thanks also to Sadeyed for the flattering comment.

It's been three days that I've been dysgraphic in the comments, but the meaning seems clear to me. If you have any doubts, I'm available...

Marco, all human things have a thousand flaws and this makes them beautiful despite the perfect criticism of which you and the incorruptible Neu! are extreme defenders. But the question is whether the flaws communicate something or not. In "American Beauty," I find poetry in the flaws of "AB"; in the Simpsons movie, I find a bit of weariness, even though there are some good elements. I repeat, however, in the end, the judgment, if not negative, cannot be convinced. It's true that SpiderPork is funny (but it's not the sharpest thing in the film; in addition to those already mentioned, I also include the exchange of "users" between the church and Moe), and anyway, it remains an extemporaneous thing in the midst of a somewhat flat story. Then let's not talk about the caricature of Milhouse and the five abundant minutes between Bambi and Birds that are trying to mock a Disney-like world (including Bart's joke) that has now been so mocked that the scene appears hyper-inflated. Then again, tastes vary... this is my idea, which is also that of a devoted admirer.

More than the groups you mention (which are very important anyway), I would identify the true Proto-Industrial as Einstürzende Neubauten, but it was bands from the '90s that codified the genre: N.I.N. and Ministry above all.
