Depeche Mode Playing The Angel
Voto:
Precious and The sinner in me are two wonderful pieces.
David Bowie Hours

It's true that it's an attempt to "copy" the glorious past, but it's not that terrible. Just yesterday I was wondering what happened to good old David.

Max Pezzali has been a skilled composer of catchy popular hits. Very simple and effective songs. Over time, he has worsened so much that he has become truly unbearable. Comparing Pezzali-Repetto to Mogol-Battisti is not much of a compliment for the new generation, even though there's some truth to it.

I was really bummed not to see them in Milan at the Magnolia. I was supposed to go, but I fell asleep fully dressed at 9 PM... what a time... they were amazing... let’s hope they come back around...
Sinead O'Connor Throw Down Your Arms
Voto:
I’m not familiar with the album in question. O'Connor has made some beautiful songs alongside others that are quite weak, even in the first two highly praised albums. It’s one of the rare cases where I would suggest buying a greatest hits, namely the one that came out about ten years ago, which is very nice and representative.
Nick Cave And The Bed Seeds Nocturama

I also like Nocturama. The latest one, however, is indefensible.
Le Luci Della Centrale Elettrica Live @ Tago Mago, Massa 07.12.08

I saw him at the Salumeria della Musica about a month ago. It was one of the very few concerts where I left early. Honestly, he seems ordinary to me. A miracle from Canali.
Franco Battiato Fleurs 2
Voto:
I haven't listened to the album yet, but the single with Consoli, in my opinion, is very nice. I like Battiato at times. I believe he has made some good albums even recently (Dieci Stratagemmi). Vuoto, on the other hand, is just a mediocre album, in my opinion. Battiato has created some beautiful songs in the past. His problem is the lyrics, which are often, though not always, incomprehensible and lacking any meaning. They appeal precisely for this reason to intellectuals who find who knows what meanings in them.

I've followed Vince Clarke all the way to the Assembly and I also liked him, especially in the early Yazoo phase. Then I didn't dare to go further, perhaps I was making a mistake.
Tiziano Ferro Alla Mia Età
Voto:
Ferro, for goodness' sake, is what he is. Anyway, he is superior to many of the pop singers of his generation like Velvet, Finley, Dirisio, Meneguzzi, Zero Assoluto, Dari, Sonorha, and that kind of stuff. His significant success is mainly due to an honest approach. I mean, I do what I can but I do it with passion. Even Pausini's success can be interpreted the same way. I mean, I do what I can but at least I try to be sincere. And this distinguishes Ferro and Pausini from other pop singers of their generation who, instead, "know" much more of the prefab kind. Anyway, it seems to me that Ferro every now and then is also capable of writing a few good popular songs like "Non me lo so spiegare."
