Mina Sulla Tua Bocca Lo Dirò
Voto:
Telespallabob and Kosmogabri, I will respond to you calmly later. I have tried to be civil. In any case, if someone thinks that the quality of life is better in Lugano than in Milan, there is no basis for discussion. I prefer to live in a questionable country full of culture and stimuli than in Switzerland. Then one can do whatever they want and live wherever they want. There are so many beautiful places in Italy where Mina could have been at peace (certainly not the big cities). As is well known.

Sorry Telespalla, no hard feelings, really. Specify to me why we would be a shitty country. Just out of curiosity. I really don’t understand you. If it’s about the management of public affairs (and you might be right on this), put your heart at ease since the situation is unmanageable (we are a country that is too big and heterogeneous). Learn to appreciate everything else, which is not little. Take a piece of advice.

No, I completely disagree. Mina became famous in Italy; she became rich and famous thanks to Italy, and at a certain point in her life, she decided to move to Switzerland solely for tax reasons (like many others do anyway). If she wasn't satisfied, she could have bought a farmhouse in Tuscany. Moreover, Mina has greatly contributed to the musical decline you mention, given that since she went into exile, she has handed us a lot of rubbish (with authors like Massimiliano Pani and Audio 2...). Records that mostly had a market...in Italy. There’s absolutely no gratitude towards this country of ours. You see, Mina isn’t Alice (meaning someone who threw their career away for the sake of coherence and the pursuit of quality). But excuse me, do you really think she left Italy because she no longer identifies with certain patterns, and then goes and has songs made by Audio 2? Furthermore, look, we are lucky to live in Italy. But where would you rather live? In Germany where the national dish is sausages and sauerkraut? In Stockholm where it gets dark at 5 PM and they eat herring? In Switzerland where everything is perfect and there is civic sense but people hardly greet each other? Look, we do not live in a crummy country but in a great country. We are a nation with great taste (food, fashion), with a rich history, and unique environmental beauties. And these are not overused clichés but objective truths. But come on, where do you think is better than here? I live in Milan, I have a job I love, I attend a lot of quality concerts, and I develop my passions also thanks to the stimuli that only a big city can provide. I really can't understand who feels dissatisfied in Italy. I only understand those who leave Italy for work reasons.

No Telespalla, I don't agree that it was a good decision to leave Italy. She was already established. She left just to avoid paying taxes. Where did she even go... to Lugano... the most sterile place in the world. It was a big mistake. We live in the most beautiful country in the world. We have taste, history, elegance, environmental beauty. We’re just a little bit clever. People leave Italy only when they can't find space, not when they are already extremely established and extremely rich.
Verdena Requiem

The Verdena are good. It seems to me that even Mauro Pagani produces them, not just anyone. This album and the first one are particularly beautiful. However, the lyrics are often weak and childish, and most of the time they make no sense. Live, though, they are very good. Their problem is that they are kids. They don’t have enough charisma. The Afterhours, in addition to being good, have a very rock "look," they have charisma, they are men, they stand out. The Verdena don’t (except maybe the bassist a little). And this is very penalizing.
Rino Gaetano E Io Ci Sto
Voto:
My comment was surely hasty. It's obvious that there is a big cultural difference between Gaetano and Bugo. But we also need to consider the significant substance of the times they lived in. Rino Gaetano, while alive, was recognized by only a few. His records didn’t sell much, except for Nuntereggae più. He became someone after his death and especially over the years, because it is known that the passage of time helps to emphasize the myth. In these barren times, Bugo is already quite good. In fact, on this site of hyper critics, it seems that all his records are rated above 3.5. In any case, a rather unhappy and hasty post.

Yes, maybe I went overboard. Anyway, Bugo is good. He is the best of the last ten years.

"Berlino, Paris, London" and "Tango" were on another level compared to the following four. "Anime pigre" (the first album without Ruggiero) wasn't bad. "Ti sento" always struck me as rather bland.

No, Bugo is quite on the same level, given the times of little substance we are living in. If he were to kick the bucket now, in twenty years he would have the same regard as the great Rino today.
Enrico Ruggeri Polvere
Voto:
Great Rouge, a character. One who has understood it all. I can't grasp the parallelism between the lyrics of Polvere and those of Mogol. Polvere's are indecipherable while Mogol's are beautiful but very simple. The next album, however, is Presente even though it's half live.
