Well, here we need to specify what music genres one listens to and appreciates. Personally, I think I know Italian music quite well, especially the dark and new wave period. I have a decent grasp of '70s classic rock. For instance, I'm not very familiar with the Blues (even though I often go to see concerts at the Blueshouse) and I don’t intervene when knowledgeable reviewers talk about this genre because I would only be stating the obvious. I usually just read. On this Italian music site, only Iside, Primiballi, and a few other 5 or 6 guys (who have taste and a certain age, which doesn’t hurt) can speak, and being reputable, they won’t give positive judgments on the Nannini album, perhaps not understanding that Debaser is above all a game, a fun pastime. You’re sure in your soul that it’s a good song; it’s the only good song by Nannini in the last 15 years. It only has the flaw of being recent. Fotoromanza, Bello e Impossibile, I Maschi are the bad songs by Nannini. Not at all California, America, Vieni Ragazzo, and the songs on this album.

The review is very well written. However, I seem to remember that it was a big success only in Germany, not in Italy. Success will come with smarter records like the next two, as you rightly say. I believe you are mistaken in stating that it "continues to gift brilliant examples of great music." The noteworthy albums by Nannini are California, GN in part (Vieni Ragazzo, Uò uò), and Latin Lover. After these albums, there are only a few good songs here and there (Kolossal, Avventuriera, Voglio fare l'amore, Sei nell'anima), but overall, the records are mediocre.

Well, I saw him in concert and left early. Canali, however, is not a newcomer. I might be wrong, but he seems like a miracle to me.

The only truly beautiful album by Nannini. Primadonna, Ragazzo dell' Europa, Latin Lover, and Wagon-Lits are outstanding songs. 4 but also something more.

I saw her too at the Jazzin' festival in Milan in 2007 and honestly, I was really fed up as well. I've always found it hard to listen to her. I love other things even though I believe I have all her historical records, but I should check.

I have never been a big fan of the Smiths and Morrissey, but the beautiful concert he gave at Villa Arconati a couple of years ago has remained etched in my memory. Also because he threw a rose in my face.

Alexia, L'Aura, Giorgia... great voices wasted on a poor repertoire.

Quality, however, is an opinion.

Oh well, we disagree...never mind. It definitely feels familiar, but I expected much worse.
