He may be a genius, but with a name like that, he just makes me laugh.

Conclusion: like it or not, man acts solely based on what he thinks; there is no work without the thought behind it that fuels and directs it. Dismissing it with the usual cliché that previous generations were more capable than ours is just a very insidious way of self-blaming (as if we needed more of that) and avoiding the burden of stopping to reflect and ponder. It is not true that today's youth lack the desire to work; it is just that they perceive the only motivation as the "duty" or the fear of getting screwed over. They act based on the instinct of self-preservation, even at the cost of making questionable or compromising choices, in a climate where cheating others is always acceptable if done with criteria. Therefore, I do not accept the logic of "fewer words, more actions," because if these are the premises, there can be no useful work, nor progress, but only speculation and poverty in a vicious circle that could prove fatal.

And then Puntinicaz says: "they have rebuilt an Italy destroyed by war." My friend, after a war there is only reconstruction to be done; what would you like to do? It happens everywhere, not just in Italy, and it seems to me that those "rebuildings" have primarily benefited the usual smart ones, the real estate developers (who knows where good old Silvio B. comes from), the mafiosi, and the consequences are on our shoulders precisely today (look, it reminds me of Abruzzo, what a coincidence), as we look back and discover once again how heavy the legacy of our "glorious" past weighs upon us. Italian cinema of the 1960s, just to remind us what poets and artists are for, has portrayed the events of our history in a moving and clear way, also showing a awareness of the present that today no one has the guts to exhibit (of course, because everyone says: "what's the point? The world works like this because it does; it's not up to us to question global logics, because they are too complex").

Again, Puntinicaz says: "your grandparents worked harder than you." Of course they did; they were farmers, living in a world where everything was tailored to the human scale, and happiness was present and tangible. I don't believe that my grandparents, if they were still alive, would trade their days in the fields for my 10 hours of work in an office. My grandmother tells me: planting, harvesting, grape picking were celebrations in which everyone participated in a communal spirit that we can't even begin to understand. I have never heard my grandfather complain about being unhappy in his youth. The problem is not the effort; it is the purpose: their lives were made up of simple gestures and participation, and although it was dictated by the seasonal harvest, the amount of rainfall, by good or bad weather, they knew how to confront lean times when there was little to eat in a far more active way than we do now, where decisions are made "from above" and we can do nothing but adapt. Today, if someone dies of hunger, it’s because a stranger on the Tokyo, New York, or Milan stock exchange has decided what they should eat, how much they should eat, and how much it will cost them, making strange gestures from one side to the other of a room where everyone screams, buys, and sells hot air. Long live the “wise ignorance” of those who know the cycles of planting and harvesting, who can look at the sun to mark the day, who, to know if it will rain tomorrow, does not listen to predictions but only needs to feel the wind, who follows the moon to know when it is time for the grape harvest. Today, if we did this, we would just seem like fools, lost in our technological delusions made of GPS and multifunctional cell phones. We defend our smug culture bought for a few euros at newsstands or taught in schools, or worse, passively learned in slippers in front of the TV, as a "conquest" that has led us to "live better," but we don't even believe it ourselves.

Come on, saint immediately, Cornell... you say that because you love grunge, and so you know very well how the '90s generation was and what the atmosphere was like back then, as well as how things have evolved up to today. Unfortunately, PuntiniCazPuntini's argument is exactly like that of my mother and father when they say, "we did, we said, you are nothing." It's easy to talk, especially if you decontextualize historical events and want to see behind globally significant occurrences the actions of a handful of heroes or an "enlightened" generation. Puntinicaz says: "they kicked out the Duce." Not to downplay the partisans, but it seems to me that it took the Americans and all the supporting allies, and it’s not like the partisans were these romantic heroes acting solely for the good of the homeland; there were serious and shady interests (as always) behind the false ideals of those who exploited and organized the phenomenon of the Resistance. For example, there were the aspirations of the United States (does terrorism, the years of lead, state massacres, unresolved mysteries, the expansion of Cosa Nostra ring a bell?).

Here’s a brief summary of PuntiniCazPuntini’s speeches: "Things are going wrong because they are going wrong, period. Besides, there are a thousand reasons why they are going wrong and it can't be otherwise; in fact, if it were otherwise, it would be a mess. Actually, it's better this way; I mean, who would want to change things? Oh, are you crazy? Things as they are cannot be touched; on the contrary, they are right, just right, everything is fine as it is and you don't understand a damn thing."

What nice guys... the video all dark, hair blowing in the wind... finally, at 50 years old, they can be metalheads; they've been trying to do that their whole lives. Oh, these are achievements!

"Progressive rock is not dead, it’s just been a bit neglected over the years; I don’t want to hear about neoprogressive, it’s a word I don’t like." In fact, why look for absurd neologisms? To describe certain stuff, the good old Italian vocabulary is enough, under the entry "merda."
