Opeth In Live Concert at the Royal Albert Hall

Are Opeth difficult and not straightforward? Bah... maybe for someone who until yesterday listened only to Gigi D'Alessio. In my opinion, they are enjoyable, accessible, and understandable for anyone with a medium-good knowledge of rock-metal music. The fact that some might not like growling or feel down listening to melancholic music is a different matter; that's a question of preferences, not of difficulty in understanding. The "niche" (in a not necessarily positive sense) will be the billions of other death/gothic/etc. bands that only have a following among a few devoted fan(atic)s to the "cause." In Opeth, however, there is so much more—class, refinement, expression, culture, sensitivity, color, wisdom in balancing influences: all things that, in my opinion, make them accessible to an audience that doesn’t necessarily have to be fond of the genre. It is precisely this that makes them interesting, as finding a similar band in this type of music is more unique than rare.

@The Decline, look, I would do anything but waste time leaving a second comment on a review of Stratovarius, but one thing I won't accept is the accusation of "arrogance & sloppiness." You didn’t express "feelings," you did a critical analysis of this album. You talked about expressive qualities, about tracks that can only be understood after many listens, about "modern musical weapons." You give them artistic dignity, far from just "feelings." There, it really takes courage to do this. Forget about a double 1; I support Nes's rating: 5 for courage.

But I honestly don’t understand one thing. Visions, which takes the same courage to call a masterpiece as it does to enter a cage and face a hungry lion, is from 1997. Infinite (which, if Visions is the masterpiece, just imagine) is from 2000. Here we are in 2011... In a normal world, everyone would say "okay, these are nice, but they've worn out their welcome." Instead, there are people who have been waiting for eleven years (!!) for the return of the Messiah, after albums for which any musician with self-respect would have already considered a career as a tobacconist, and when something even minimally listenable comes out, they start examining it under a microscope in search of every idea that is at least half a step above the obvious inability to hold an instrument. "They move their hands on the strings, they play notes one after the other, there are drum beats, and the guitars are perfectly tuned: I give it three stars." I mean, are we joking here? Stratovarius... Stratovarius!

Well, here I am... to be honest... I clicked up here just because I read "orgy" and "orgasm" in the first line, and instead, I was left disappointed, like this --> :( Then I kept reading, and with the "kazz influences," I began to nurture new hopes, which, however, were dashed once again. Well, never mind, aside from that, the review is interesting. I'll look for something later, now youporn.

"Well, now let's try again 'Genitales Amorfos Reinfectados De Un Paciente En Desarrollo Psicosexual Con Fijacion En La Entapa Anal, Oral E Falica', and this time let's make sure to hit all the right notes otherwise it makes no sense and then I get the intonation wrong."
Vasco Rossi ...Ma cosa vuoi che sia una canzone...

What do you want a song to be? Generally, a work with a minimum of effort behind it. If it's by Vasco, instead, it's an exhausting collection of the worst clichés passed off as art.

Yes, a very particular film: particularly bad.
Stratovarius Darkest Hours

The darkest hour is the one spent in torment after reading this review. But really, are there still people who are anxious for the release of an album from these failed dishwashers?
