John, I wrote above that there are people who have thought this, I didn't say it's written in any music dictionary. You are correct that they were very different, I even specified that above...

Cappio, I made the comparison between Gaetano and De André because I've read people who had the courage to say that Gaetano is better than De André. These are always subjective opinions, make no mistake, but sometimes it goes too far... they also come from two different cultural contexts.

I'm instead afraid that the """""most awaited""""" album of 2009 is yet to be released, and when it does, the homepage will be filled with reviews about it...

The speech by Senzastile indeed deserves further examination. Certain singers who were simply good singers, not geniuses, are strangely instrumentalized and elevated to genius status after their death. This is neither good for them, nor for us. First, it happened with Rino Gaetano (good, mind you, and may he rest in peace, but to say he's better than De André is quite a stretch), then to some extent with Freddie Mercury (Queen was a straightforward band of skilled craftsmen, with their great songs, but not with 5-star albums), and now with Valentina Giovagnini, who, to be fair, is superior to various Tatangelo and so on, but not a genius. Don’t you think all of the aforementioned are turning in their graves because of this media manipulation?

It’s to this film that Primal Scream owe their eponymous album released in 1997… :) (not surprisingly, there’s a track on that CD called "Kowalsky")

It's the album I love the most by them, and the 5 fits perfectly, ad vitam.

And to think that at first I really didn't want to listen to the album... curiosity, as usual, got the better of me (even though I only heard two songs...)

I don't know... I've only heard the song with Consoli (very good) and the one with Antony (nothing special, except for the final part)...

I bought it today and I'm listening to it right now, and I regret not having done it sooner. I almost completely agree with Primiballi on the truly satisfying result. I also hear, in my opinion, some almost rock influences, as if Servillo and the others had never renounced their pre-"Bellosguardo" origins, especially in the excellent rendition of "Elisir." The electronic tricks in the new version of "Cosa Sai Di Me?" are also great. I was particularly surprised by the new version of "Spassiunatamente," but you know, I've always loved that piece, perhaps one of my favorites from that masterpiece which is "Aguaplano." However, I don't agree on "Sijmadicandhapajee." In my opinion, in its samba vibe, it is still a decent rendition, inferior to the others, but not to be dismissed. Always just opinions, anyway...

Cpt, such courage to give even just 2 stars to an album like this... well, it's still better than Ashanti giving 2 stars to De André :D
