They sold 450,000 copies in 25 years, I believe; in recent years I wouldn't know, but you know, they are those typical bands that get reassessed later, they were too ahead of their time... a bit like the Velvet Underground, to put it in perspective. In my opinion, categorizing the works of Van der Graaf and King Crimson as mere progressive (a dreadful definition) is reductive and wrong... art rock, I believe, is the right term, an experimental rock, unique and out of the box, hardly comparable to the genre's standard. It makes me laugh those who say that Van der Graaf sound like Genesis... that’s crazy talk! They couldn’t be more different; it’s like saying that King Crimson resembles Yes. And yet I had to hear this nonsense...

Guys, we're talking about Van der Graaf at home with Genesis because frankly, we can't stand talking about Genesis anymore... certain reviews of Van der Graaf are semi-deserted instead... in one there are the reviewer, a user I can't remember, and me crying....

The Van der Graaf, however, were not nihilists; in their lyrics, a glimmer of hope can be caught... perhaps certain obsessive, harsh, and nervous instrumental moments might seem a bit nihilistic... but nihilism has nothing to do with it... theirs is an exasperated, anguished, and decadent romanticism, November-like and subterranean, and in some parts glacial, in contrast to the warmth of Jackson's saxophone... theirs is a more existential and emotional prog rock... I bet they've been more influential for the dark wave than one might imagine.

supersoul, I don't know the author, but I've definitely heard the title before. If you recommend it to me, baby, I'll make sure to read it... Yes, I rarely see so much nonsense packed into a few lines; I haven't been able to do any better myself... maybe Rivoli and Poletti.

The Van der Graaf Generator is under what??????? my goooooddddd!! one of the greatest bands to have ever existed on the face of the earth! regardless of the progressive..

I disagree, this album is beautiful but it does not perfectly represent progressive rock; there are "know what i like" and "more fool me" that hinder that. Foxtrot is the best and most representative album of Genesis' prog, and to a lesser extent, Nursery Cryme, leaving aside the beautiful Trespass, which is still somewhat immature.

Damn, I totally missed your latest review. In the past few days, I was just coming here for a couple of minutes to leave one or two comments.... as for supersoul, it has definitely won me over and there's nothing I can do about it :-)
