Yes, but Gong or Floyd seem quite far from Hawkwind apart from the schizo attitude. I can't think of any bands that sounded like that at that time (probably just ignorance, huh). I've never listened to Capt Beyond, but I thought they were more canonically hard rock, so I might give them a try now.

Truly, compliments Stoney, it's not easy to write about a classic (and especially a complex work like this) without falling into the banal. I don't understand how one could even come to "hate" an author like Svevo, oh well.
