@trickykid, a) it may be true, but I don't see how this fact can support a negative judgment on prog music, b) it is sometimes, without a doubt, but too often I wouldn't say so (can you cite something?), c) I believe there are many masterpieces or at least great albums, you just need to look, d) I can agree about ELP, who can be a bit of a drag for me too, but can you name just one band? That seems a bit little to draw a general judgment, e) I’m not quite clear on what you mean, can you explain better? And who are these 'fake intellectuals'? f) I think this is common to other genres/subgenres as well; the fact that prog was successful for only 7-8 years doesn't imply that the quality of the music produced is low. Moreover, prog still exists today, albeit as a more niche genre, and I believe it has had its influences like other genres. P.S. the writer is not a prog extremist, for example, they adore """grunge""" and, when they listen to it, they will probably love this album too :D

"will to power," are you suggesting that the Genesis were inspired by Nietzsche? :DDD

Are you saying that, for example, in "Dancing With The Moonlit Knight" or in "Firth Of Fifth" there isn't any lyricism?? Anyway, you said that prog is crap, so whether you like it or not, you included the KC as well: that's the risk you run when you generalize too much :D

Then I don’t understand what you mean by rhetoric in prog, could you clarify?

Yes, but even if we admitted that prog groups are detached and stay in their ivory tower (which doesn't seem to me), what would change? When I put on a record, I don't know, of Caravan or King Crimson, whether they played for the audience or they played for themselves, I like them just the same :D
