Then if Vabbè has been banned, he can't even write anonymously. Bjorky, drop the names, you can't know. This only creates more unnecessary tensions. I don't believe (I hope) it's Flinstone.

Ah okay, I was just thinking that maybe I misunderstood. Sorry :-) I mentioned certain albums just as suggestions for Horizons, which I think might appreciate a certain gothic-romantic vein more than classic doom.

I would like to remind those who may not know that the adjective "romantic" does not carry any negative connotation. It’s a matter of taste. I find the attitude of certain fans of "hard" and heavy sounds who criticize other bands just because they’re more "romantic" and less extreme quite annoying. Even an album like "Mandylion" can be a masterpiece in its own right. Whether or not you like it is another matter, but criticizing it simply for being "romantic" is absurd.

@Lethe, if I understood correctly, Horizons is looking for something not too extreme and without growl. That's why I suggested those albums. Among the ones you mentioned, I only know Silent Enigma, and I prefer Alternative 4. I don't outright dislike growl, but I'm not a big fan of it either. I might give Brave Murder Day a listen, since I don’t mind Akerfeldt’s growl in Opeth too much. As for My Dying Bride, I know "The Angel and The Dark River"; from how you describe them, they seem like a romantic and sugary little band! However, I find them slow, oppressive, and funereal!!! I don't know Cathedral, but from how you talk about them, I would suggest Horizons listen to the other Cathedral, the ones from "Stained Glass Stories" :-)

@pib, "it's a pretentious album, a bit pompous, but still of excellent quality," you'd like it, wouldn't you? :-))))))))) As for me, I don't think so!

Horizons, a great album by Anathema without growl, is "Alternative 4". They had been passed off to me as gothic rather than doom, but the genres are adjacent, and I see that everyone classifies them as they please. The Katatonia, if I'm not mistaken, only used growl in their early albums. I listened to "Discouraged Ones" and "Tonight's Decision," both beautiful and without growl. If you're interested in the genre, I would recommend some albums with female vocals, like "Mandylion" by The Gathering, or "Tears Laid In Earth" by The 3rd and The Mortal.
