...Exactly :-) Thank you, Contempla, your enthusiasm is touching! I will return to these pages in the future and will certainly treasure your advice. So "Birth of the Cool" and "Four & More" :-)

Thank you all, "Birth of the Cool" has been mentioned twice, so I’ll start with that. Also, because at the moment I don't feel like taking a systematic approach to jazz or Davis's work (especially since I'm currently interested in very different things). More pragmatically, I just wanted to listen to something that could bring me closer to jazz, so I can revisit the conversation in the future.

Don't worry, I don't get angry over little things, it's just that the phrase made me smile :-) Anyway, there are quite a few prog lovers, even here on DeB, especially true prog, the one from the '70s. Thankfully, progressive isn't just Dream Theater (even though it's a good album). What are your favorite listens in the prog genre?

@Pib, even the Frenchisms now? ;-) Try "Trees in Winter" by Sol Invictus: I, who know nothing about apocalyptic folk, really liked it a lot. Of course, it's funereal, but I think that's a characteristic of the genre. I don't know if maestro memento will agree with my suggestion. Anyway, for prog, I would start with Camel :-)

@contemplation, can you suggest some titles from the acoustic Miles that are a must-have? As an absolute novice, I've only listened to (and really enjoyed) Kind of Blue.

Pordenone? They are my fellow citizens, but I've never heard them mentioned.

But weren't you supposed to cut us off from the apocalyptic folk? :-))
