Well, maybe the idea of the pale-faced villains and the white man initiated into Apache culture had already come a few years earlier (1950) to Delmer Dawes with The Indian Lover, whereas the discussion of violence in the Western epic came to Uncle Peckinpah with Sierra Charriba (1965). Nevertheless, it’s a great film.
And then I don’t understand why De André didn’t sing about the massacre of Bronte or Portella delle Ginestre instead of Sand Creek.

It's hard to say what the absolute best piece by Gun Club is, but on this album, Jeffrey Lee Pierce's voice reaches unattainable levels; just listen to, for instance, "Devil in the Woods." Perhaps my favorite piece is "Walking with the Beast," which opens Las Vegas Story but was already ready back in the Miami days. Pure slowed-down voodoo blues with a Cramps-like vibe, Jeffrey gives me the sensation of a feline moving cautiously through the putrid atmosphere of the swamp vegetation. Play it loud! If you're crazy about JLP and the blues, get your hands on the collection Early Warning ('81-'82) released in '97; on the second CD (Six Strings Sermon), it’s just Jeffrey with the acoustic guitar.

What can I say, the impression you have of this film now is one I had the first time I saw it... and I've never liked Kasdan as a director, including the copying of La fiamma del peccato (Brivido caldo) and the unfortunate version of sfida all'OK Corral (Wyatt Earp).

Do you know why JLP wore his hair like that at the time? As a kid, he was the president of a Blondie fan club!

Great respect for the great Peckinpah, but I’ve seen several road movies that surpass Convoy, like The Getaway, or The Wild Bunch, Easy Rider, Fistful of Dollars, In Cold Blood, A Bullet for the Specialist, Electra Glide in Blue, The Getaway, Sugarland Express... my favorite is Two-Lane Blacktop by Monte Hellman.
