"thrash metal remains tied to a narrow handful of bands..." I'm sorry, but I completely disagree. There are bands like, for example, Overkill or Tankard that have always played thrash. But there would be hundreds to name, like Annihilator. Metallica haven't released a good album since 1991...

I’ve never been particularly drawn to them. At times, I even find them a bit boring. Not that they are, but, in my personal opinion, I think that the obsessive pursuit of technique often feels a bit self-indulgent. I would never go to one of their concerts...
