Arab Strap The Week Never Starts Round Here

Nice one. Maybe the post is even nicer than the review. P.s.: Lux, do me a favor, go back to listening to the DT, because you don't understand a damn thing, I’ve already told you.

MINKIA! But how many fakes does Agghiastru have? From Maddalena to Marco Ardagno. Damn Agghiastru, do you want to understand that here at DeBaser you’re not bringing home the bread?

Hello Cicciobello. Before going around handing out credibility certificates, you should start being credible yourself. Because someone who can give four stars to Nearly God and five to Benvegnù is as credible as Fede when he talks about Berlusconi. P.S.: the album, of course, I won't even listen to. I've had enough of the first one and of not one but two concerts of our boring (and yes, I already found Scisma awful, but I keep giving everyone a chance).

Beyond Vortex's proposal, there are some other chances, as I always remind dear Primiballi when he spends a fortune on sacred monsters and comes home disappointed: going to see emerging bands that cost little or nothing. It's worth mentioning that concerts today cost as much as ice cream because of a collapse in record sales, and so they make up for that kind of income. That said, if there are leftists who charge for entry, effectively excluding large portions of the audience, that's another story. I won't tell you how much I paid to see Dario Fo, who claims to be a champion of workers, for a Mistero Buffo that I saw perhaps more than twenty years ago. And the quoted Guccini? If he wants 40 euros, Waits could ask for 400. On the other hand, that's the market, baby. Was the Aecimboldi full or not? I would have liked to see it too, but my policy is, in general, to go see small bands for zero to a maximum of 15 euros. And in the end, just as there's a market, everyone spends their money as they see fit.

Trell, apologies no but you know that in our relationship you are the dominant one:-). I didn’t mean to attack 16 Horsepower, which I actually respect, I was just trying to bring things back to their rightful size and remind that this little disc, listened to again last night (speaking of the site's functions, what I love most is that it brings back from the dust, and the chaos, albums I might not have listened to in ages) after twelve years, is truly a little masterpiece. And giving it a 4, just can't be done.

P.p.s. I meant the last decent one, compared to "Sackclot.." and "Low Estate."

Trell, my punisher... you know I’m paradoxical and opposed to all this nonsense of 5s, the latest 16 horsepower seems really ugly to me, if we give 5 to that, Nearly God deserves twelve, right? P.s.: I’m re-listening to "Brighten the corners," and here's another nice 5.

No, I'm not so sure... I'm relying on a statement from Richards years ago that said that every now and then, in the album notes, they would list Jagger as the guitarist just to mess with him because he was completely inept at playing it. Everyone agrees that Taylor only plays the slide and the solo, not the main riff. I don't know if you've ever seen Jagger play: he really doesn't seem like he could play the main riff at all; he usually just does rhythm guitar with very little distortion. It's true, as stated, that Taylor has always claimed it as his (and that was one of the big reasons for the fallout with Jagger/Richards who took the credit), so much so that it has always been included in his solo sets after the Stones. P.S.: I don't know if the CD notes have corrected the error, but in the vinyl notes, Richards is always credited as Richard...

I don't understand why it's categorized under Tricky, since it was released under the moniker Nearly God, as a side project. And to talk about "joyful creativity" seems delusional to me. If there's a sick record, it's this one; just look at the insert with Tricky crawling towards the red door... Speaking of delusions, giving 4 stars to this, which is one of the most important albums of the '90s, perhaps even superior in a certain way to the first one, while all the crap on this site gets 5 stars, seems completely insane.
