Supertramp Breakfast in America
Voto:
A little reminder to piss off the common folk. Back in '79, I was hanging out in the parks listening to The Clash and Joe Jackson, while all the radios were blasting the hits from that record, like now with even Pausini and Ramazzotti (is that how you spell it?) combined. So I hated Supertramp because they were listened to by the posers. Now, however, if I happen to hear it on the radio, I even sing along to the songs. Am I losing it? Maybe, but the fact that "Dreamer" was also done by Zero, and I remember that too, says a lot about Supertramp's quality. So I still pretend to be a punk and the vote follows.
June Of '44 Four Great Points

I'll take care of the details. June is the wife of the writer Henry Miller. The erotic-literary triangle with Anais Nin seems to have developed in '44. In June of that year, mom of guitarist Mueller was also born, while Meadows' grandfather was over in Europe fighting a war. Be patient, Frank, but we’re all, rightly, meticulous here…

A man alone in command: Scaruffi manages to say more bullshit by himself in one review than a thousand Debasers in just as many!

Melodically, you might be right, Mary. I've always been crazy about Mascis's dreamy voice in "Thumb" and the final solo, which I find heartbreakingly poignant, almost Hendrix-like.

And why, it's fine with the pussy (and the ass), but next time take her out to dinner and don't give money to these two trashy girls.

We're back to disagreeing :-). For me, it was a bit of a disappointment. The transition from indie to major is all too evident. Do you think that Wea would have ever released a track like "Don't"? The guitars sound too clean. Where has the wonderful feedback from the two previous, almost monumental, works gone? Where is the low-fi, Lou Barlow style? It always seemed to me that Mascis's genius, along with the two My Bloody and Psychocandy, was to hide the melody behind the wreckage. Here, the wreckage is no longer present. That said, "Thumb" is among the most beautiful ballads of the '90s, and the cover, I might be exaggerating, is my favorite (but maybe I'm not exaggerating... I must still have the tour poster somewhere...)

Just in case, Maryg, try to listen to this, because the next thing...heroin doesn't really do you much good, in fact, almost never...

As usual, I say that I'm stingy with 5s, but every now and then, when it's right, it's right. That's that. The best I've read in the last few weeks.
