I really hope not, considering my "golden age" is 1979-82 (English new wave and post-punk). I love everything, except maybe the years 1972/1976, even though some great albums came out during that time. Ah, I switched to a Costello cover, also from Apple, "I want you": damn, what a track, check it out and let me know. @Black: don’t worry, it's on me; the pleasure would be so great :-) Then I think you're even more fun when you're drunk.

If being outdated means worshipping "Fun House," then that's just fine... I won't tell you what I'm listening to again, because otherwise I'll just receive insults. I can tell you that tonight I'm listening to "Criminal" by Fiona Apple, I think for the fifty-seventh time in a row: I'm a bit of a monomaniac!

Tour "Dirty" by Sonic, as support. So I would say 1992, and they were on their first album.

Fuck, can't we go out to dinner the three of us, like in Bologna, which seems to be in the middle, instead of spending all this time typing on the computer that's driving me nuts? Can you ask your fiancé Bjorky for permission? From "One foot," I love "Asshole," one of my favorite acoustics of the last ten years. @ Mr. Wolf: you're right about Stanley, it's just that I was doing too much track by track...

@Bjorky: pop in the sense that you can grasp the melody that is in conflict with the noise and the terrible recording. Recommended album by Sebadoh: "Bakesale," featuring a cover of a kid looking into the bowl (of the toilet). Even though it’s not exactly lo-fi, it’s still a great record. @Black it’s not that I like them, I j'adore Pavement and I'm so old that I've seen them live. Even the early Pavement records are lo-fi, more because they’re oblique than poorly recorded.

Who brought out the lo-fi now? It's serious Bjorky, but I got you covered :-). We're talking about pop songs marred by background noise and poorly recorded (on purpose, of course), and that's where the lo(w)-fidelity comes from. Leading exponents: Sebadoh by Lou Barlow (former Dinosaur Jr.) and Beck in a couple of minor and acoustic albums.

The combination with Godspeed is excellent: they also use the piano/forte contrast superbly.

I would add the reiteration of the same loop, like 64 or 128 times, with minimal variations and slight increases in power; it takes ten minutes for everything to explode, and maybe implode. That's why I get bored and prefer Mogwai who explode more quickly :), In fact, I would return to talking about them, because math bores me to listen to, let alone talk about it :-).
