You could have wasted yourself a bit more! :-)! Perhaps the best album by the girls. Back in 1988, one of the ones that spun the most on my turntable. A bit underrated these days. Absolutely interesting for the use of odd time signatures, which will later be picked up as a little idea by Polly Jean.

needless to say (but weren't you supposed to do Tori's last one?)

Well! So far I've only heard bad things about it from everyone, only here on Deb is there someone speaking positively about it.

Hi cap. I tried to listen to it and I didn't like it at all. The lady sat at the piano and played the pieces with minimal and somewhat gloomy arrangements. So what? There's not a single cover that's better than the originals (I don't know Eminem's piece, but the boredom of the interpretation is more than enough). "Rattlesnakes" and "I don't like mondays" are pieces that have always brought me joy; here they unnecessarily darken them. "Time" and "Real Men," identical to the originals, lack the intense interpretation of Tom and Joe. "Happiness" has a somewhat interesting arrangement, but it loses the best part, which is the explosion of "Mother Superior" (listen to the cover made by the Breeders, who fully capture its essence). "Enjoy the silence" is one of the most beautiful love songs of the last twenty years, I’m sure David Sylvian would have done it better; here it passes by like any other little song. The only notable arrangement is of "Heart of gold," definitely not done by Amos, with that distorted guitar loop that doesn't fit her style. In short, a true and pure disaster. I hope you don’t take offense at my judgment on your beloved :-)

@Odradek: I only meant the first Shamen, definitely not the subsequent ones, and it was more of a "gut feeling" than contextualized. @Mago: I don't think the comparison with the Air album fits; that's more in the realm of Floyd '70, while this is really sixties psychedelia.

Sorry Blacky, but this time I can't give you five: in the first part, you switch from third person to a more informal "you" a couple of times. You know I'm a nitpicker :-)

Thank you for the support, mouse. My speech is very simple. Let's pretend to be a sixteen-year-old approaching rock'n'roll. He wants to understand if this album might interest him. What the hell does he understand from this review? Sure, he might be aided by the fact that we all gave the album a 5. But then? It seems to me that one often forgets one of the purposes of the Internet, which is to help others understand and learn something new. Many reviews, on the other hand, are just egocentric outbursts.

As of today, the best album of the year (though I haven't listened to many, so I'm not very reliable). More than Barrett, it reminded me of certain lesser psychedelia from the sixties, little groups you can hear in compilations like the Electric Sugarcubes series. And then there's also the first Shamen (who remembers them?). Anyway, he's one of the most interesting characters around, because he mixes psychedelia and electronics, a truly fascinating path.

Beautiful of supersoul. A bit like that friend of mine who told me he saw Grant Lee Buffalo. I asked him where. And he told me they were opening for REM, and since he was at it, he also saw them. Anyway, aside from everything, what gives me the creeps about this review is all the technical analysis, on who plays the drums better than whom and on Summers' guitar playing. If the Police were worth anything, it was because, once upon a time, I don't know about now, the three of them really brought it. Of course, if someone spends 92 euros to sit in the stands and make notes on the technical quality of the individuals, as someone said, either you go to the whores or go see Abbado.

I thought that Apple, given its reviews, had a great sense of humor. From its posts, it doesn’t seem to confirm that. Dude, if you don't like it, why don't you just leave? Another exit with "suck my dick and I’ll call the editors." What the hell!
