Among the best reviews ever, here on DEBASER. A fundamental page.

GREAT AUTHOR and EXCELLENT REVIEW. Here are the roots of rock, practically the RIFFS from which everyone has copied or been inspired. BO DIDDLEY, CHUCK BERRY, MUDDY WATERS, WILLIE DIXON: you need to have and STUDY the triples from CHESS of these authors to understand where 60s white rock comes from. Those boys had nothing but the myth and the obsession for the coolest and most degraded black artists. Just ask KEITH RICHARDS.

MIEN_MO_MAN & MUFFIN are absolutely right. I agree with their posts... I had already mentioned that the CONSOLI phenomenon is very well orchestrated by the MEDIA.

I realize that by mistake I gave a 4 to the review, when I meant to give it a 3...just a small tweak.

The review is well written, aside from the hyperbolic comparison of CONSOLI with true icons like PASOLINI, GABER, and FALLACI. The album in question deserves a 3, considering the dismal state of the Italian music scene. CONSOLI has always seemed to me like a "product" very (too) heavily promoted by the MEDIA (from MTV down, including newspapers like REPUBBLICA)....

MAFFIN...never said that just because a track is COVERED it is beautiful in absolute terms. Rather, it gains either the status of a CLASSIC or that of a cult track or an earnest tribute. Successful and less famous songs are covered because by rearranging and reperforming them, artists and old music are remembered.

MUFFIN... here we’re not talking about the quality of the cover, but about the fact that a song is “covered,” meaning it is taken, for better or worse, to be a “classic.” As for my personal tastes, I agree with you; I’ve never been overly fond of - not even in my youth - the NIRVANA.

MARPARDO, don’t you understand that here no one defends the production of VASCO (the one from the last 14 years)? Here we discuss what rock is... and rock is ignorant. And that's the greatness of rock: being crude, ignorant, individualistic and proud of it. The myths of rock come from working-class families, they didn’t study, they didn’t graduate, etc., but they created culture. IGGY POP, gasping through the obscene lyrics of two-word songs by the STOOGES, created culture. Like JAGGER & co., even if they are satanists, petty criminals, misogynists, and high on drugs. Like the LED ZEP, whose lyrics should be read aloud to understand what rock is made of (the obsessive repetition of PLANT saying "SHAKE ME BABY," what could that mean?), the VELVET UNDERGROUND or LOU REED, the RAMONES who sang anthems about "SNIFFING SOME GLUE" (a cheap way to get high), etc. But above all, rock lyrics (from the very beginning, just look at the masters of rock-blues) were founded on SEX.

Stoney, you’re making a huge mistake... For certain shortcomings, you can remedy by getting the following texts that tackle music from different perspectives (and not in a black-and-white manner, as often happens here): "ROCK: 500 ALBUMS TO COLLECT" by Casalini & Corticelli, "LA TERRA PROMESSA" by G. Castaldo; "JAZZ", by Polillo; "MILES DAVIS The Autobiography"; "BLUES" by Lomax; "IL JAZZ E IL SUO MONDO" by Roncaglia; "TROPICALISMO"; the recent "GUIDA RAGIONEVOLE AL FRASTUONO + ATROCE" by L. BANG, the essential PENGUIN guide on JAZZ, and "ROCK E ALTRE CONTAMINAZIONI" (supplementary book to the magazine BLOW-UP). To relax instead, I recommend: "NATURA MORTA CON CUSTODIA DI SAX".
