If Italy were a serious country, its NATIONAL ANTHEM would be "Aida." Not Verdi's opera, but RINO's song. It's infuriating to see that, after all these years, we are still talking about this GREAT figure of Italian music. Like almost all of RINO's albums, there are some crap songs thrown in just to fill the LP tracks... but ESCLUSO IL CANE is one of his most beautiful songs.

My pedantic note prompts me to point out this mistake: "There are many reviews of the Beatles on DeBaser"...! No, there are many reviews ABOUT the Beatles (or rather, about the albums of the BEATLES).
The WHITE is essential, perhaps their best alongside the subsequent ABBEY ROAD. I consider these posthumous albums important for the FAN and the PHILOLOGIST, but useless and ultimately detrimental for the public and the Authors themselves. If I were a BEATLE, I'd be pissed off: I have the right for my songs to be heard as I conceived them and thus, definitively recorded! Are these just the usual doodles and sketches before the completion of the WORK or one of the rare cases where we are faced with fundamental material? In doubt, I give it a 4, knowing the absolute value of the SONGS of the official album.

I kneel before the wisdom of TOM TRAUBERT (blues?). I reiterate that even the greatest Italian songwriter (DE ANDRÉ) in almost all his MASTERPIECE albums was accompanied by other musicians (Piovani, Bubbola, Fossati, De Gregori, Pagani, etc.). Especially considering that his musical masterpiece of '84, the STUNNING and ESSENTIAL "Creuza de Ma," without Pagani would have never seen the light of day, at least as we know it. This does not take anything away from the GREATNESS of DE ANDRÉ. Nor can the greatness of BATTIATO be overshadowed...

Dear MIDISUN, for the same reason that one does not review DE ANDRÉ-FOSSATI for "Anime Salve" or DE ANDRÉ-PAGANI for "Creuza de Ma." It is also well known that the stunning intro of "La dona Cannone" was written by LOCASCIULLI. And so on... The fact that very often, quite often, singer-songwriters seek help from musicians does not diminish the value of their "art." The songs are by BATTIATO (lyrics and music), the collaboration of PIO is for the arrangements (genius!).

Truly an album that deserved more success and perhaps, more promotional attention (there was no tour for this record). A record of honest rock, like they will never be able to make again. Among the best REM albums of all time. After the pop-electronic involution.

Some classics and a few good songs illuminate the farewell album of CALE. Essentially, this is the last album by the VELVET UNDERGROUND. As the Reviewer already points out, LOU REED takes center stage here, already contemplating a solo career despite the dark period he is going through....WHITE LIGHT/WHITE HEAT and the BANANA album, however, are a WHOLE DIFFERENT THING.

The review is well-written... you mentioned everyone to reconstruct PLACEBO, except BOWIE. To me, they seem like the grandchildren of the WHITE DUKE. The first album was a breath of fresh air (I had the cassette which I listened to for 2 months...), but then they failed to add anything more in the subsequent works, except for a more careful approach to recordings and post-production that, to me, buried the freshness of the sound. And this came at the expense of the DARK, POP, and GLAM ingredients that make up PLACEBO's songs.

An inspired, cultured, and mainstream album all at once. In one word, GENIUS.
