Well done, Darius, this review fits us perfectly. The film truly deserves it, and I join those who consider it one of the best of the 2000s, with so many touching and gritty scenes capable of conveying the atmosphere. It's the kind of movie that, when it's on TV, you hardly change the channel even if you know it by heart. Brody's face as he dips a finger into the jam is indelible: the embodiment and union of suffering and pleasure. I find it curious that after this objectively stellar performance, he got lost with King Kong and other half-baked projects... I hope he bounces back.
