I also want to leave my contribution: HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

She was the first female songwriter I listened to; then came Joni Mitchell and nothing was ever the same, but Joan will always stay in my heart: incredibly talented and beautiful. P.S.: are you sure there’s no "Diamond And Rust"? try searching "Joan Baez" for "Artist"...

"Then it's essentially what Scaruffi claims" And you've said it all! Regarding the rating system, let me share my thoughts: the substantial problem is that here the scale is from 1 to 5, without even half votes. Much better and more objective would be a scoring system out of ten, with half votes included (6.5; 7.5; 8.5...), and I would even add "+" and "-" to give a judgment of absolute precision (9+ = 9.25; 9- = 8.75). That said, speaking in tenths, for me there is NO Rock work that deserves a 10/10: for me a 10 (and in this case maybe a praise, meaning 10+) can only be the great masterpieces of Classical music. The greatest Rock albums can reach a MAXIMUM of 9.5 (and perhaps I am being generous). Since the scale here is from 1 to 5, without even half votes, it means that NO Rock work is a full 5, not even one. However, given my limitations in voting, I choose a "ranking": I give 5 stars to all albums that I rate between 8.5 and 9.5. Therefore, I will give 5 stars to "Led Zeppelin 4" just as I will give it to Bach's Air on the G String, but they will be two 5s with different meanings. That said, it is not at all true that there are 20-25 albums in Rock/songwriter music (that is, "popular" music) that deserve 5 stars; it is not true that the only 5-star album by Dylan is Blonde on Blonde, because there is also "Highway 61 Revisited" and at least 2-3 others that have nothing or almost nothing less than Blonde on Blonde, which remains one of the greatest Rock works in history; But the real problem wouldn't even be this, because rightly the voting is subjective, one can give whatever votes they want and I don't contest that; the point is another: "THERE ARE VERY FEW INTERESTING ITALIAN ALBUMS, AND THEREFORE EVEN A 4-STAR ALBUM IS AMONG THE BEST OF ALL TIME. IF A WORK OF THIS ARTISTIC VALUE HAD COME OUT ABROAD, IT WOULD NOT EVEN BE AMONG THE TOP 500 BEST ALBUMS OF ALL TIME. I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF THERE IS A 5-STAR ITALIAN ALBUM": do you understand what he wrote? When, on the other hand, a random album from De André's discography would not only hold its own against the top 500 albums of all time, but would also compete very well with the top 100 best of all time. Just like "Anima Latina" by Battisti.

Ah, right: putting aside Mars Volta and other bands from different genres, and considering only the Alternative Rock of the last 8 years, well, even in this narrow field, Muse are not the best: Alter Bridge, Strokes, Editors, Interpol...

Of course, Mars Volta is a "young" band, just like Muse: making comparisons with the giants of the past (Deep Purple, Sabbath, Alice in Chains... you named Rhapsody and Cradle which are Metal, but Metal has nothing to do with it. So let's avoid mentioning Maiden and co., those are true Metal bands...), is utterly ridiculous. And if you mentioned Cradle and Rhapsody which are completely unrelated, then I’ll bring up some of the best young artists today, besides Mars Volta, SHANNON WRIGHT, who does Rock-Folk/Pop-Rock and in my opinion is superior to Muse, whom I still consider a good Alternative Rock/Pop-Rock band.

"The Muses are the greatest rock band on Earth at the moment, considering that Wolfsbane, Litfiba, Alice In Chains, and Black Sabbath no longer exist, while Pearl Jam and Deep Purple are clearly on the decline." MARS VOLTA?

"I don't even know if there's an Italian record that deserves 5 stars." Neu!, once again you prove how useless and poser you are. There's a certain De André, I don't know if you've ever heard of him, in whose entire discography finding an album that isn't 5 stars is a feat, albums that wouldn't be out of place beside the best of Cohen, Mitchell, and Dylan. There are also many albums by a certain Lucio Battisti that are a full 5 stars, masterpieces that wouldn't pale in comparison to any foreign album. And there’s also a certain Mia Martini, who has placed some absolute masterpieces. And then, of course, the legendary Vinicio Capossela...
