Jovanotti Safari
Voto:
Jovanotti, to me, is like canned herring. I give him a 3 because in his entire endless "lyric," he has expressed two phrases that are not only meaningful but that I am fond of for various reasons: "Dizziness is not the fear of falling, but the desire to fly," and especially: "Without you, I am not." Trivial? Maybe yes. But they are connected to a phase I am going through, to a current memory... Rationally it would be a 1, but my heart pushes me to give him a 3.
Black Sabbath The Dio Years
Voto:
From a purely technical standpoint, Ozzy is not even the pinky finger of Ronnie James Dio, who has an incredible voice. However, as everyone has already said, Ozzy's voice melded with the music of the three in an unparalleled way, giving a touch and a sense of dark alienation, I would dare say an almost demonic aura, characteristic of Ozzy's Sabbath. Not to mention the enormous charisma Ozzy had on stage: he became a kind of deity among fans precisely because, live, he was a unique character, a showman and a charismatic leader like very few others in history. With Dio, Sabbath became faster and heavier, moving closer to the more classic Heavy Metal that was emerging at that time. For me, the absolute best albums by BS are the first four. "Heaven and Hell" is splendid, but it's a step below these. And anyway, I always hear "Ozzy's Sabbath," "Dio's Sabbath," "Martin's Sabbath": but the truth is that they have always been Tony Iommi's Black Sabbath.
The Beatles Rubber Soul

@47: You're right. However, if we must give Caesar what is Caesar's, it should be noted that on "Rubber Soul" we see the first, barely hinted traces of Psychedelia (traces barely perceptible; much in this regard will be better developed later), and "Rubber Soul" is from '65: '65, if you know what I mean! When the VU and Pink Floyd released their debut albums, which will unreachably develop certain musical styles and clearly surpass the Beatles in terms of avant-garde (even though I don't feel comfortable making comparisons and saying "this is better than that": saying that the VU are superior to the Beatles, or the Beatles superior to the PF, or the VU superior to the PF, or the PF superior to the Beatles, for me is nonsense, these comparisons don't hold up), however, I was saying, although clearly surpassed in avant-garde and new ways of conceiving, exploring, and making Music, by the time "The Piper" and "VU & Nico" came out, the Beatles had already given the world "Rubber Soul", "Revolver", and just a bit earlier "Sgt Pepper." In short, they paved the way for the most part, and just before the Fab4, there had already been someone experimenting with overdubs and similar stuff, so I don't feel like saying the Beatles invented psychedelia; that would also be an immense nonsense: but their influence was the greatest, they were the first to do it better, and they brought it to a wide audience because "Rubber Soul" and "Revolver," like all their records, sold incredibly well: I don't like absolutisms, I've said it before, but I can confidently state that "Rubber Soul" was the first album where Psychedelia appeared that had widespread public success. In short, they were absolutely fundamental.

"The Beatles of the '70s": let's see, what would be the Beatles of the '70s? Anyone who gives this album less than a 4 clearly knows nothing about music.
Mika Life In Cartoon Motion
Voto:
Saying that Mika sucks is just bullshit. In the modern Pop landscape (pure crap), he's one of the best, someone who has done something good, and he's definitely above average. Plus, he has an extraordinary vocal range. "Happy Ending" is very lovely, it's beautiful, and it's definitely his best piece and the highlight of the album. The album overall is 3.
