Anyway, I thank you for sharing your opinion; who knows, maybe your words will help me appreciate this album a little bit more. Thanks also to everyone else who commented (a special shoutout to Fjelltronen and Cosimo)! Bye.

So many beautiful contrasting opinions. Well! @Thanatos: I have never questioned the originality and expressiveness of this band, and I don't think I ever will. Until the magnificent "The Great Cold Distance," I didn’t care about the (alleged) influences from Tool, Cure, and the like; I didn’t care simply because I found them (and still find them, eh!) unique on their own, a band that knows what it's doing, not just a copycat of who knows who. But here we are talking about "Night.." and, frankly, I can’t find anything in what you wrote: <<a touch that this time is more spiritual, less carnal>>—to me, a phrase like that would rather be associated with TGCD, funny enough. TGCD is introspective, distorted, closed in on itself, and I consider it "less carnal" because (precisely) it is cold and distant, SUBTERRANEAN. "Night" instead, except for the atmospheric (sometimes sublime, I admit) autumnal and melancholic feel, seems to me only stagnant. In my opinion, it is not intricate; rather, it is quite laid-back and dreamy (and also fairly simple in its structures), nor do I find it <<lacking in melody in the vocals>>: "Idle Blood," "Inheritance," "The Longest Year," "New Night," "Day & Then The Shade"... The choruses (or the melodies in general) are stretched out and often very catchy, almost at the levels of TGCD (often unjustly accused of being commercial)! And by the way, I can’t perceive those <<always interesting and changing rhythms and percussion>>! There are, as mentioned, the two ballads with a fairly predictable rhythm, but for the rest, I only hear monotonous "chugga-chugga" interspersed with calm and laid-back moments; I don’t find all this exceptional variety. Who knows. Then obviously, mine is just a string of words and opinions that can only hold up to a certain point, but I simply can’t pretend not to feel the boredom and yawns while listening to this album :(((

Listened to it for the umpteenth time... No way, it doesn't resonate with me, I like it halfway (but not even that). Uffff boredom!

... After the various listens I've had in these days/nights, I partially rethink the low score I gave it: I’d give it just over a 3, a 3.5, there you go. I’m 99% in agreement with Gasta: very nice tracks like "The Longest Year," "Forsaker," and especially "Departer." Not great are "Idle Blood," "Inheritance," and I would also add the horrible "Liberation." The rest... highs and lows, some very interesting ideas here and some empty moments there. Anyway, regardless of the examples, overall, the bitter taste has remained the same. Sigh.

I also tried to follow it 4-5 years ago, during the first season, but... I dropped it even before it ended...

And to think the album was supposed to come out around January, or even last December...
