Well, I believe there can be no discussion about the masterpieces you mention by Prince. I don't think it's even in Pharrell's (or Timbaland's, who I reiterate I consider very good but by no means a genius) intentions to compete at that level, primarily because, as I recall, Prince was first and foremost an instrumentalist (in the classical sense of the term = traditional instruments). They, even if they probably are, don't even come close to the same level (and I repeat, it doesn't seem to me that they want to do so). Here we were essentially talking about production; I find Timbaland more appealing (I think he’s groovier, in short), Pharrell less so...
