Honestly, I don't see the problem. You keep going on your path even if others laugh; I've always done that and I'm happy about it. Bye!

@Lux: It's not about glorifying the N.I.N. (or others of undeniable value) but rather about not getting too upset if so-called less interesting artists achieve mass success because they are still part of the characteristics of our era. I don't feel the need to call an entire category of fans ignorant, as I believe passions arise from motivations that are far from cerebral. I know plenty of passionate fans of Vasco or Zero, and honestly, I care very little about their motivations (not to mention, it doesn't seem that the fans of these artists demand any sort of significant cultural relevance for their favorites). So let's let them live and not be too concerned about the charts.

Regarding the discussion we started from, I think I’ve made myself clear. I have no problem if someone tells me that something I like disgusts them; I have a problem if this is born from a lack of information (perhaps distorted by some mass cliché) or worse, from preconceptions. Therefore, I’m used to not judging others' tastes or passions, even if they are questionable.

As for the criticism discourse, what can I say? Ten years ago, the perspective was one way; now there's this nouvelle vogue revisionist approach, and in ten years it may have already been swept away by other critics who profess even more objectivity. Culture, like tastes, is a constantly changing flow. I prefer to form an absolutely personal (and democratic) idea rather than listen to those who preach it as something reserved for the few. Cheers!

At a certain point, I write "astranon tutte e sentimentali"; the phrase was "astratte e del tutto sentimentali." I don't know why that mess came out...

So I’ll respond point by point: A) I don’t want to make you question yourself; I’m not that presumptuous. We were discussing (civilly, it seems to me) and that’s it. B) As I’ve already said, I don’t dispute your tastes but your concept of art viewed as an oligarchy for the few. Luckily, we live in an era where (at least here where we live) everyone can express their ideas and their expressions, and thanks to technological advancements, these ideas spread very quickly. Therefore, culture (in a broad sense) is now accessible to everyone, which is why many critics (including perhaps those you presume have more, indeed, culture) often proclaim themselves as such and lack precisely that sensitivity you speak of, a quality of those who can always confront doubt with humility. Of course, if these resources are misused, they can lead to educational phenomena like ā€œvelinismo,ā€ for example, but I’m a guarantor and prefer to focus on what positive has emerged from all this. C) Honestly, I don’t see the paradox between relativism and sales rankings (if they are reliable). In the end, these are proof that people follow their personal ideas, blissfully ignoring this or that critic (and this is not always positive, for heaven's sake). It may seem like carelessness, but again, I prefer to be optimistic and think that this arises from the masses' desire to break away from the dictatorship of so-called intelligent criticism. D) Regarding the issue of frustration, I perceive in you a desire to change the global view of art that is often disappointed. And do you know why? Because what you propose (in my opinion) goes against the true essence of human desire: to emerge. Reducing all this to a series of dogmas, decided by a narrow oligarchy of intellectuals, is not only wrong but completely useless, because, to again use the term relativism, it goes against the human desire to be unique and unrepeatable and thus to confront one another. E) Personally, I doubt everything, but I have two almost certainties. The first is that except in Science (and often not even there), objectivity doesn’t exist, and the second is that those who attack Relativism usually do so to defend their own position (it doesn’t matter if it’s predominant or not; it often turns into battles among the less fortunate) just as much as those who recite the usual refrain ā€œde gustibus.ā€ F) Whether you like it or not, even Vasco or Zero, to name two already mentioned, but many others (whom I don’t particularly like) create culture, it’s just that it is related to the times we live in (see point B), and I don’t think it’s right to trash an entire fan group because one doesn’t consider their idol artistically valid. Often, passions arise from purely abstract or not entirely sentimental things, or for mere amusement, and not from superficiality or worse, stupidity. Not everyone (in fact, very few) experiences music as a conceptualization, and this way of living things should still be respected. G) Yes, I like N.I.N. a lot, but I don’t think that’s the only thing we have in common when it comes to tastes; it’s the approach that is different. Bye!

Never been agitated, my tones don't seem agitated to me, I was talking about the work behind it and not about the spent figures (also because at this point we should calculate all the money spent on advertising that was there, and there was a lot, let me tell you, but that's another story), as a musician I think you will agree with me. Nothing to say, Vic or whoever: an uncomfortable character (often gives highly questionable reviews and comments, but that's not the case here) but necessary for Deb. A film I’ll be talking about in ten years; for now, a score will suffice. cptgaio
