Ps. I went to Ibiza on Ferragosto in 1989 and at night, not knowing what to do, I’d go to Pacha and Amnesia. There wasn’t a single hippie in sight, and the techno music was brain-numbing. Among all that trash, only one track caught my attention: a certain Baby Ford with the cover of Children of the Revolution. And the chorus resounded in my head like an epitaph:
But you won't fool the children of the revolution...

Beautiful review, magnificent film, stunning settings; the debaserists with their Nanimo-retti Rolex get lost behind the word "whore"—why? Isn’t Estelle a bitch or a whore of choice? But light up a joint and let yourself go with the flow of images and music in this celluloid trip, immerse yourself in the arabesques of late 60s design, the flower dresses, free love; let yourself be lulled in stereophony by the waves of the marvelous songs by Pink Floyd, who were not yet bankers of psychedelia. Estelle—a stratospheric Mimsy Farmer playing the enchanting dark lady—seems more like a proto-punk friend of Lou Reed than a daughter of eternal love. Stefan has all my human solidarity: he found himself trapped in a subculture not his own and is drowning in it. At that age, it can happen; personally, I hung out with a couple of aging hippies on the verge of extinction in the 80s, and it’s easy to be sucked in by these witches with their smoky musings, mystic preachings, and free love, etc. But despite all of you damn hippies, I love you!

Mark, if you're young, why are you reviewing the records of your grandparents? It was a confusing time on a generational level, and Finardi wasn't a nice person. And that Bergamasque accent on the records is terrible. Leave the dinosaurs alone, leave the past alone. Some clunky old records belong in a museum. Live your age, if you see a hippie around, take him down.

So, a beautiful, passionate, and heartfelt review, and besides the unfortunate, that touch of Area in Finardi has never appealed to me: the Area used to make me anxious, like all those prog bands back then. I saw them on TV in some RAI program, and I found them verbose, pretentious, and unbearable. FINARDI would have been an excellent soul singer. I GOT SCARED and SWITCHED channels with the big button. Back in 1976, I was listening to the mainstream of the time on the radio: I was already a child of the reflux ; ) I had truly fallen for Agnetha when I saw ABBA win the Eurovision, all on TV in strictly black and white. Ah, You can't die inside the jukebox at the beach; I always played it, it reminds me so much of Patrizia, LAGRIME NAPULITANE! Then Battisti, my all-time favorite, Ancora tu, Ramaya at the jukebox in the restaurant to celebrate my cousin's communion. And Sandokan! Lauzi with the Tartaruga. Fly robin fly, get up and boogie, More more more, KC and the Sunshine Band, Keep it comin' love, That's the way I like it. A gem of a film for the times, the director and the screenwriters have done an excellent job. Ursula is always worth a review. Mastroianni, I don't know, seemed a bit out of place, but he has his reasons. Love wins in the end, if I remember correctly...

Ah, the eye in Malcolm McDowell's fish stew is adorably superb... The Serpent God is at the bottom of each one of us, but you were not made to live like reptiles of primary impulses in the name of freedom... but what am I saying, it's late.
