damn, senile animal hits you hard...check out their myspace!!! I swear, I think it’s the most powerful album they've made (it’s much less experimental as it focuses on songs that are super violent)...imagine, there are two drummers blasting in your face at the same time!!!

I recommend their latest album (A Senile Animal), which is the most accessible one they've done... just to be clear, I don't think you're stupid, but the last one could definitely be a good starting point. You might also want to check out Houdini (an album produced in '93, half by Cobain, which is a blast). Anyway, seriously, don't limit yourself to just those albums because the Melvins are so much more than that!

I can imagine. I completely agree with you. What really pisses me off are these know-it-alls who have no real passion. I mean, I grew up on punk and Nirvana, and thankfully, I think you did too, and I honestly flee from a certain kind of polished music. Meanwhile, the countless idiots on this site are competing to see who can name the most bands. But who the hell cares about knowing Queen? Who the hell cares about how many albums U2 has or how many times they've stretched their ass to achieve success?

peggiopunx as usual, only with you can I talk! They come, criticize, share their opinions about things they don't know, spout nonsense about punk/hardcore that doesn’t even make sense, and then they all seem like geniuses because they don’t know a damn thing about a specific thing (like punk) because they listen to everything and therefore can't really focus. Anyway, I want to reiterate my compliments... this is your best review yet and the only band I’ve discovered through Debaser is Indigesti through your write-up!!!

great review for a great album... I like how you summarized the influences in the Melvins' music (in my opinion, you forgot "My War" by Black Flag... but that’s okay!!!). this is really my favorite period (for me, the masterpiece remains BULLHEAD) even though the major label period (except for STAG, which I just can't get into) is going strong... but shall we talk about A SENILE ANIMAL!?! I mean, they have a mind-blowing discography as a mind-blowing band!
