Rollins Band Come in and Burn

Sorry, captain, I understand that you might not care and you can consider this nonsense, but for those who listen to and know Black Flag, and for those who know a bit about Rollins, obviously through what he does, they can't dismiss it all as nonsense. Rollins, a skinny guy, became a bodybuilder after a friend was killed during a robbery, and in order to be considered nonsense, there would have to be something fake about it... nonsense because it’s not felt authentically... instead, Rollins is exactly like that. I think people go to his shows just to get kicked in the ass... if you browse on YouTube, you’ll repeatedly come across an angry Rollins... we’re not talking about Sunday altar boys who, after putting on their suits, go behead goats; we’re talking about middle-class America and their kids rebelling... hardcore is made up of kids much more cultured than one might think... in a way, it’s a cultural elite (like it or not)... and then, excuse me... how can you call Rollins a sideshow act if your favorite band is Iron Maiden, who have been playing the same song for thirty years with the same zombie drawn on the cover? No offense, captain, just trying to make a point.

Or you can watch The Decline Of Western Civilization... every concert is a brawl. The Circle Jerks trying to decapitate the front row, Fear spitting and kicking a woman (who's kind of a mess)... holy shit it's hardcore, not Yes. It's music made to be beasts with all possible contraindications. It's music made to feel free enough to kick a dickhead, if necessary, who tries to get on stage!

I reply to everyone: I couldn’t care less about choosing the best of Bukowski, in fact, I believe that none of his works is the best because he’s not at the top. I enjoy reading him, but he’s not at the peak. I appreciate this book simply because it has a symbolic connotation. It’s the last one he wrote and with it, he freed himself from his ghosts. That’s all. I think it’s commendable and noteworthy, don’t you? Then I respond to Geenoo. Of course, it might not appeal to everyone. The value of things lies in what we give them. It's not a matter of being pretentious, especially since I don’t know how many percentage points Bukowski holds in that calculation. I hope it’s enough... for me, it remains a pleasant read. It strikes me, entertains me, and leaves me with something. Nothing more.

Man, I think one thing is not clear. I'm not justifying Rollins (I really don’t give a shit if he kicked someone in the ass or anything else... I just said that if he felt he was right, then he’s right to do what he feels... as long as he feels it's justified. I say this in absolute terms, forever and ever, with all the terrorism and various bullshit... the only thing is that whoever performs the action must be blinded by good, by being and wanting to be on the right side) and I don't care at all about the attitude an "artist" might have on stage. I’ve seen Nick Cave stop a concert to protect a fan from the security guys who wanted to beat him up, I’ve seen Iggy Pop throw the microphone at someone while shouting "fascist"... in short, I don't give a damn about the attitude they have on stage, absolutely nothing. Simply put, and here we go back to my first comment, it bothers me that a person has to be labeled a fascist or a comrade due to a simple action... and this only happens in Italy and it's paradoxical since politics in Italy is a joke. He kicked a ditzy girl in the ass. Okay, why should he be a fascist? What’s the connection? I don’t get this and don’t tell me that violence is a right-wing behavior because then we’ll have to stuff the salami you have over your eyes down your throat! Oh, no hard feelings, okay! Bye man :) Oh, have you noticed that blackdog has not been seen anymore? Do you think he’ll reappear in the next season? ;)

But who the hell forgives anyone? Why should I care if Rollins kicks a bitch who confuses his stage for a cube? Did he feel like kicking her in the ass? Well, if he felt that way, if deep down he believed he was right and acting for the greater good, then he did the right thing.

I didn't know Henry Rollins was Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Another golden-quality bullshit. By my standards, an old hag who has repressed her instincts in the name of who knows what is bad, and that Berlusconi is a bad guy is an objective fact. About the Pixies, your penny questions belong somewhere else... it was a nice little page before you started leaving overly sensational comments on the page of someone who has made senses, reasons—let's talk about Rollins, shall we?—batshit!

<< even Berlusconi is a different one and he has created a world in his own image and likeness. So is the Alfano law right? >> what the hell does that have to do with it? We are talking about people who operate without hypocrisy, without interests, honestly, who do not bend to perverse mechanisms, we are talking about good people. oh my, it's really disheartening!

Let's move beyond the all-Italian view of the little fascist and the little comrade. There are people who are well beyond the normal or the usual parasitic condition that we express. There are people who, thank God, transcend the circle of the cursed artist and elevate the world not only with their shit-art but also by positively acting in the world. One of these people is Rollins, the other is MacKaye. Both of them dominate the crowd when they take the stage. Ian, for example, hates being photographed while playing without his consent, he hates when people mosh like idiots... Rollins, then, gets lost in his rants, starts talking about whatever the hell he feels like and can go on for an hour. If you go to a concert of these guys, you have to accept their rules. It's you who enters their world, it's you who must respect their world, because they have actually created their world from nothing. Let me tell you, Azzo, I hate mediocrity, and the fact that both Rollins and MacKaye are two despotic assholes with some issues with their conscience and intend to control every aspect of their music makes them even more likable to me.
