I'm not really fond of the review... what does the comparison to Nirvana have to do with it? Without the Nirvana boom, there’s no way Tad, Melvins, or Mudhoney would have been signing with a major. Anyway, my favorite of theirs is Salt Lick... maybe because of Stevuccio. Speaking of vinyl: wow, I'm also well-stocked, especially I have one that I look at and get emotional... guess which one.

I totally agree with supersoul... until Transmission I'm a group god. The first six are stunning records, the rest let's forget about it.

For me, grunge is crap. Saving the peace of Nirvana and the Melvins, the rest could just disappear... sure, there are other bands from that scene that I like, like Mudhoney, but my loves are just Nirvana and the Melvins. Did it produce numerous memorable albums? I don't think so. I rather believe it produced a lot of crap bands. Nirvana is a mass band. A band that sells 10 million copies of an album is a mass band, and, my captain, the beautiful thing is that it happened to Nirvana, who are not overrated at all but rather severely underrated. Cobain and company managed to do what no one else had done, that is to turn punk rock into mainstream pop. So if you think I suffer from romantic alternative-ism, you're mistaken. I couldn't care less about alternative (to what, anyway?), and if I wanted to be alternative, I would come here to tell you to listen to the Wipers. So: I am for the mainstream, and that’s why Nirvana are Nirvana. When I was thirteen, I chose my friends based on what they thought of Nirvana. That always worked in my favor. I no longer apply this method and limit it only to music. You don’t like Nirvana? Well then it’s pointless to talk about music. That’s just how I am... that doesn't take away from the fact that you're a nice person and we could talk about a thousand other things, but maybe not music :) Of course, I'm not putting myself on a higher level than you; I'm just joking, and we are talking about a band that, besides marking my life, has marked the lives of all my friends... so I’m too involved for a careful and objective analysis. To me, they are the best band on the planet, much more important than all other music, but I'm not trying to be objective.

See, my tone is my tone, and I speak like this in everyday life too. If something is crap for me, it's crap... I mean for me, as I am, it's objective, but for you, it's subjective. So: everything I say isn't absolute truth except for me. I am all for absolute subjectivism... anyway, I'm twenty-two. @blackdog... I don't like Vs at all.

But is Tobont already a case for humanity??? Because if not, I’ll name him... a free thinker who compares books with movies based on other people's judgments is a god of free thinking. Come on Tobont, don't take offense. It was meant to be an ironic comment on a nonsense you said (because a free thinker who thinks based on others' opinions makes me laugh too much... it reminds me of the high school philosophy teacher who preached intellectual honesty and confused Rousseau with Hobbes)... sometimes you just need a good laugh. Your review, however, isn’t even an essay (there's no need to boast). It's simply a review that drags on and on about points unrelated to the film in a long and boring way. Do it your way, and if you think that’s the right approach, go ahead. In my opinion, you’ll soon become a new Poletti, but my opinion doesn’t count for much.

Look, most of the reviews on Debaser end badly precisely because there are controversies or pointless attacks among various users in the comments, but not this one. We were exchanging opinions about the major producers of the '90s... so everything went smoothly. No one used inappropriate terms until my comment, which wasn’t the first. So it’s an exemplary page, well done. The experimentalism you talk about seems minimal to me, but that's not a flaw. J Mascis has been playing for twenty years using the same formula, but what can you say? He's great (in my opinion)... I've got Vs, Vitalogy, Yield, On Two Legs, Riot Act, and the single I Am Mine... So, in my opinion, I've wasted money and I'm selling them all except Vitalogy, which I still enjoy.

Friend, you can listen to Pearl Jam like eating shit and it doesn't bother me at all. If I answered you like that, it's because the professor-like tone annoys me... <<two superficial listens aren’t enough to grasp their work at 360 degrees...>> ... you see, I know all the Pearl Jam albums well and unfortunately, I even own many of them in original format. I tried to sell them, but they offer me three euros each and it's not worth it. Maybe I'll sell them on eBay. Anyway, I've never seen them live and I don’t care to, but I know their performances; in fact, my favorite is "On Two Legs"... indeed, I recognize that they are excellent craftsmen. You say: <<Gossard, write me a song>> and he’ll repeat it exactly the same for twenty years like a great craftsman. As for historical importance... well, I don't give a damn. I am me and not history, and to ME, Pearl Jam sucks just as much as Van Halen and Guns N' Roses do... the history that matters to me is my personal history, which is made up of different types and levels of bands. The only classics I acknowledge are Neil Young and Creedence Clearwater Revival... for the rest, I have no classics, and Pearl Jam can be considered a classic only by those who know very little and poorly about the music of the '80s and '90s... I understand you. Maybe you're attached to them, they remind you of first love and school struggles... many men love ugly girls and think they are beautiful because they see them through the eyes of love.
