Mel Gibson The Passion
Voto:
Six thousand blows even Christ can't bear; the collapse happens much sooner. Anyway, what happened two thousand years ago, no one can know. Making a movie about it is just speculation.
Martin Scorsese The Departed
Voto:
Di Caprio is a great actor, perhaps because of his round angelic face, perhaps because he appeals to teenage girls... or maybe because being the protagonist of Titanic annoys a lot of people, but he is very talented and professional.
Neil Burger The Illusionist (L'illusionista)
Voto:
When will they make a movie about this great psychic (or illusionist) from Turin? He was an incredible character, nothing like Houdini... truly spine-chilling.
George Harrison Brainwashed
Voto:
Harrison fell ill with lung cancer, and unfortunately, most people affected by this terrible illness leave us soon... even without stabbings.
Rolling Stones Steel Wheels
Voto:
Steel Wheels stride annoyingly like "steel wheels"… on a dead track. Mick Jagger's first solo was not that bad, a bit commercial but very enjoyable. The Stones, the real ones, we find in other albums and they are a whole different thing.
Beatles Abbey Road
Voto:
Harrison, for example, had a great rock piece (Soul Milk Sea) that he wrote before recording the White Album; he never used it, neither for himself nor for the Beatles. Jakie Lomax recorded it, and it went almost unnoticed, which is a real shame. In the Beatles' albums, there aren't many rock tracks, and it would have replaced those usual banal fillers much better, especially Paul’s "grandma songs."
Ron Howard Il Codice Da Vinci
Voto:
All I understood from this book is that Jesus wasn't born poor in a cave and in his later years he even lived in the Côte d'Azur.
Beatles Abbey Road
Voto:
No, they're not ugly Alfredo, but they had better things in store; however, things went differently for some reason that at the time seemed right to follow. George Martin said some time ago that they were crazy not to include Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane on Sgt. Pepper... but you know, hindsight is 20/20.
Beatles Abbey Road
Voto:
McCartney had a "Maybe I'm Amazed" ready somewhere. George had many more substantial tracks than Ringo's, which ended up on the triple album. Not to mention Lennon, see "Jealous Guy," written in India ages ago under a different title. Maxwell's Silver Hammer was hated by John and George for the countless times Paul had them perform and redo it, driving them to frustration. Ringo's song was included out of friendliness.
Beatles Abbey Road
Voto:
Besides Maxwell's Silver Hammer, I would have removed Ringo's as well, Octopus Garden... they had better tracks in the drawer, but selfishly they used them for their solo albums.
