Well, imagine that I have the same problem as you... but when it comes to approaching Neil Young!!! I’m serious, even though in Italy there are more than two generations who have learned to love him! I don't trust albums that are too noisy for fear of finding them too little pop; I don't trust starting with the classics because I fear it's too commercial; I don't trust going too far back in time because I worry it’s too rootsy and too little recognizable in style; at the same time, I didn't get close to him during the grunge period because I listened to (and watched the video, which I find embarrassing) the famous "Downtown", where there were hippies and punksters with mohawks causing chaos under the stage, and it all seemed like a ploy to me...

Ah, for me, whether it's metal or not, TRASH is spelled with an H. I know I might be wrong, or maybe not, but for me, Trash metal is Trash metal. It’s like, once it becomes classical music (because it has gone down in history and been mythologized with its legendary figures), we want to call, twenty years later, the Seattle sound GRENGE, pronouncing it French style (en = an), because it sounds cooler. In short, let’s try to speak (and write) as we eat: grunge is spelled "grunge" because we listen to grunge (and not as if we were tasting a French wine), and trash calls to me as trash because we listen to trash :)

Neu is part of a highly respectable movement or, unknowingly, holds positions or has reached positions regarding the Beatles that are shared by a significant slice of experts. When it comes to the White Album and Revolver, I lose my mind... I remind myself of how the genius named Brian Wilson thought about the Beatles, how he descended into semi-madness in an attempt to reach their level... All of this cannot be underestimated, cannot be overlooked: as far as I'm concerned, this isn’t about giving Nico a 5 and claiming that there are protagonists in the history of rock who cannot be rated because they are unclassifiable, or who, due to their significance in the history of music (or in the collective imagination), should earn 5 stars even if they were to record their farts. This is not about history, image, or Pippo Baudo playing She Loves You on Domenica In. This isn't about the '60s or the economic boom. There's no easy suggestion to evoke here. What we have is music, and high music. At least for me, you know! :)

But really, I think you misunderstood, or maybe I explained myself poorly: I meant to say THAT I POSTED THOSE SOFT BALLS OF UTOPIAS AND THOSE COOL MTV DUDES FROM THE LAST GOODNIGHT (while here there's a horde of metalheads on a rampage). I certainly didn't mean to say AND THESE DUMB EDITORS PUBLISH GRAVE AND THAT METAL GARBAGE RATHER THAN MY UNMATCHED ART! Never in a million years would I dare to stoop to such a level of rudeness, even though I'm not exactly the prince on the pea. Can we make peace? :D

Sorry, ElectricOne and Mementomori, sorry. Personally, back in the day, I read MetalHammer and learned a lot, a huge amount about metal (metal of every kind). Indeed, reading those magazines gave me the chance to understand the different styles, the various nuances, and how much stuff was hidden behind the term Metal: there were bands with a tenor as their singer, there were bands singing in Greek or Latin, there were satanist groups, there was Christian rock, there was epic metal, there was romantic Nibelung metal, there was gothic metal, there were satanists who became Catholic fundamentalists, there were thrashers singing in the Amazonian language... there was a lot of culture and multiculturalism... everyone drew from their own background, from the atmospheres of their homeland, from their own baggage of visions and suggestions... And there were interviews with virtuosos, things that still made me dream that superheroes existed and were in the world of metal. I, in short, didn’t buy the buscadero but MetalHammer because it was a more thrilling read. I remember in one article, the leader of Grave was upset because he had to play in that particular city the day after the Obituary concert... What I don’t understand is why, once you have crafted your sound, you should find yourself condemned, in metal it's often like that, to repeat yourself forever. Why always and anyway linger in the search for something monstrous, and why put that self-indulgence into it? What’s wrong with not being a thrash, grind, doom, death, or black metal band at all costs? Can't one just be a music artist? But no: with metal, you go from monstrous cover to apocalyptic cover, from pornographic titles to evocations of the evil... what is the philosophy of self-indulgence (and of the metal audience's indulgence) in the search for the horrific? This is the reason that distanced me from those sounds. Sorry, and if you don't want to forgive me at least appreciate my sincerity. Thank you.
