I specify and I sign: Australia seemed to me (but I am not Bruce Chatwin) a watered-down America. More isolated, more distant, a desert yes but without canyons, high waves yes but without Vietnam, General Motors cars yes but with different brands. It follows trends yes but without conviction, it’s summer at Christmas, it makes American-style films knowing that it can’t quite match them, it makes Quigley Down Under against the Aboriginals because the Indians aren’t here; it doesn’t have the Rocky Mountains, it doesn’t have its real, frantic, uncomfortable yet undeniable multiracialism, although it has its meltin’ pot... The music might have its underground background, but what sells over a million copies is almost always watered down and/or derivative. I do like Crowded House and the early Go-Betweens, and even the early AC/DC and Killing Joke, perhaps even a disc by INXS (I’m a simpleton), but that doesn’t mean it’s music that deserves beatification. Instead of myths, rightly or wrongly, there are plenty in the United Kingdom. Myths, I mean, that have become very famous, that have sold well and produced quality work. The first name that came to my mind, I’ve put on the table. As for Van Morrison, I haven’t written any review: go see who has written reviews about him, and you’ll notice that the review Santones of DeBaserian have taken care of writing about a music Saint.

OleEinar: Do you remember this last post? It dates back to the (rather fierce) critique of Festwca in my review of "Aurora" by Asia...

The problem, dear Ole, is that reading is a tiring thing. And not many people read a review from start to finish. On the other hand, talking a lot never tires us... And so we end up COMMENTING (with two posts, one being "japponese che in europa prende un cd japponese del japponese del japponese del japponese composto in jappone per i japponesi dei japponesi dei japponesi dei japponesi") ON WHAT WE UNDERSTAND, which does not correspond at all to what is written. And anyway, let’s not take it to heart: we know very well that the idiosyncrasy regarding reading and the love for chatter (-ciarlata) are and will always remain Italic topoi.

the rest of the moves to you... Have fun!

Anyway: I lower the hatchet. In fact, I propose something different: why don't you challenge each other? Play (strictly in my review, so the comments increase) a match Australia-United Kingdom... what move do you start with? With Roy Montgomery? I'll put in Van Morrison.

Ah, don't think that I don't like Cave! Impossible, given that in America he was promoted big time (even in one of his music videos) by none other than Ric Ocasek from the Cars! :-)

Here we talk about mainstream "caliber"... something that led Nick Cave to duet with Kylie Minogue :-)

If I talk about the band that has sold the most in British history (the Beatles) and then about the most famous one among the recent ones (Coldplay), you should respond with the most famous bands from history and the present (that is, I believe, In.X.S and Savage Garden) :-) Australian.

I talk about mainstream musicians from the first to the last day of their lives, and you compare them to Lubricated Goat... What the hell do you have in your head?

And then, if when I talk about England I say Beatles, how is it possible that when I talk about Australia I get responses like Birthday Party? Killing Joke? Celibate? Beasts of Bourbon? The famous Hash Jar Tempo?
