only a lobotomized idiot from too much well-behaved TV could not know that the uprising in Pianura is controlled by the camorra. They want the shit of waste management to pass through their hands, and the usual little dictators of the improvised want to secure the usual mega contracts. Reopening a landfill in this media frenzy? In the long run, it could be interesting, because when the emergency (and media curiosity) passes, the site is once again available for more toxic shit from northern Italy or from Chernobyl, it doesn't matter, but in the immediate term, who thinks about the investments made to keep the carriage (and we’re talking about carriages, indeed) of self-compaction going? And then Pianura... In the Neapolitan area, they would be able to build illegal houses (made, among other things, with cement, bricks, and toxic paints, because recycled from illegal landfills) even on the edge of the mouth of Vesuvius... ALL OF THIS REMINDS ME OF WHEN THEY EVICTED THE ILLEGAL OCCUPANTS WHO WERE LIVING IN AGRIGENTO WITHIN THE VALLEY OF THE TEMPLES: they had chosen a good spot, the panoramic view, huh? The cameras focused on desperate people, fathers fainting, children crying... THIS IS CALLED MYSTIFICATION OF REALITY, meaning THE CAMERAS FRAME YOU SUFFERING, THEREFORE YOU ARE AN INNOCENT VICTIM. Victim, my ass; innocent, two horns. Sometimes I get pissed off and say that every person has the home they deserve, the neighborhood they deserve, the city they deserve, the region they deserve, the nation they deserve. Even they, those who command, those who screw us over, politicians and/or camorristi, they have the people they deserve: they’re despicable, we’re supplicating idiots, ready to sell and betray ourselves for immediate, petty benefits. And too damn credulous in the face of the know-it-all anchor man of the moment.

Are you ready for Something/Anything?

Great review for this kind of proto-punk band. I don’t remember them well, I listened to them some time ago, right in a period when I was stuck between some old Kinks stuff and bands like Vibrators and Eaters... what I remember well is that I wasn’t able to place these Deviants in a specific historical period.

The problem will be getting it... and then I have to study/restudy all the indie first, starting from Slint :) but how sweet we've become, huh! ;)

minchiune, they must be mine... but can you confirm that they didn't make a suicide-rock version of take my breathe away?

in his name and of unpublished works, it seems to me twenty-one but I wouldn’t want to be mistaken.

Jake, since we are few who appreciate it, I’m afraid that anyone about to listen to it for the first time will take the wrong approach and lose interest for good. In general, the albums I gave 5 stars to are: The Ballad Of Todd Rundgren, Hermit Of Mink Hollow, and The Ever Popular Tortured Artist Effect. Blackcrow gave 5 stars to Something/Anything in 2005, and I initially gave 4 to A Wizard, A True Star, but then I changed my mind after listening to it a few more times: it deserves 5.

It seems possible to start with The Ballads Of T.R and go up, or start with Hermit Of Mink Hollow and go down. Forget about these and focus on the 70s, from start to finish. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT, BEGIN YOUR RUNDGREN JOURNEY WITH HIS ALBUM "INITIATION": I understand that the title may inspire confidence, but be very careful not to do it!!!
