Here are some more recommendations for Horizons: try the self-titled album by After Forever or also "Det vilde kor" by Lumsk... Very different but with some of the characteristics you're looking for...

Darling, I want to let you know right away that the album I recommended isn't exactly canonical prog metal... if you think of bands like Dream Theater or Symphony X (which I really can't stand), it's completely different! As for 70s prog, yes, I like it but I don’t really listen to it... however, it definitely influenced my tastes since it was the genre my parents preferred when they were young...

@Iscariota: Maybe he didn't specify it well, but there is a hint of "Wish I could dream it again"...

I would recommend a rather recent album, which has been one of the best records of the last few years in my opinion: "Embrace the storm" by Stream Of Passion...

Well, if it’s truly an album you loved so much, you could have written a review that, I wouldn't say is better in terms of form, but at least analyzes more deeply the emotions and feelings it manages to evoke, as well as the purely stylistic-musical aspect that, in my opinion, has been largely overlooked... PS: I’ve never heard any black metal tracks in Novembre either, but I could be wrong; this is the only one I'm missing.

Or in doom/death or gothic metal...

This CD seems made for me, I’m adding it to my list of interests... Impeccable review, but by now it’s almost unnecessary to say it!

It's true... in the last two albums, Nightwish has become an hyper-produced band, but I don't find them emotionally sterile like Rhapsody for example; they are still full of emotion and expressive, now atmospheric and intimate, now impetuous (and not "pompous"!)... in any case, they remain one of my favorite bands, with which I have had a connection for years; maybe my judgment is influenced by this emotional bond, as I see happens to you every now and then... As for Leaves' Eyes, it's not true that I've criticized them too much; I find their songs somewhat likable, but compared to people like Nightwish and Within Temptation, I find them very "plasticky," lacking spontaneity, overly studied...

I like beautiful voices, regardless of gender... outside the music scene, though, I like you :D :D :D I only know the renaissance by reputation, anyway...

No resemblance to Nightwish...
