I don't understand, is the problem the age of the average Tool listener (or any other band)? Or is it about their "listening seniority"? Or what most listeners expect from them, whether it’s an album in the style of Undertow or 10,000 Days? I mean, Tool is a band that has shown a lot in the past and still has great potential to make good albums, if not masterpieces, regardless of the age, number, and mindset of its listeners.

So according to the journalist, what should I, who am 30 years old and have been working for 11 years, listen to??? The argument doesn't hold up; NIN, RATM, Deftones, and Soundgarden were already on a decline in the second half of the '90s, while Tool still had a lot to say. Moreover, an evolution in the sound of a band/artist is inevitable; if they all made the same records, instead of being here discussing it, we would be on their page making more or less funny jokes like we do with any Foo Fighters. If, on the other hand, the article is a sort of outburst from someone who didn’t appreciate the direction taken since Lateralus (my favorite album of the band) and longs for the "good old days," then consider that I didn’t say anything...
