Pink Floyd The Division Bell

Know-it-all, I want to clarify that the earlier post was not meant to be offensive in any way. As for the rest, I appreciate your response where you explain the reasons why you don’t like the album, an opinion that I (repeat) respect. I happen to like the album in question. It hasn't changed my life, it's not the masterpiece that I listen to frequently (in fact, it’s been a couple of years since I last listened to it), and I must also agree with you that it’s neither innovative nor original in any way. But every now and then, a bit of Gilmour-style guitar and some delicate melodies reminiscent of Wright, however cliché, are enjoyable to me. Of course, any work by the Pink Floyd of Waters or Barrett is far more appreciable, and any comparison is even more difficult to propose, but if it helps you understand my point of view: I appreciate an album by the early Pink Floyd with both my ears and my brain, while A Momentary Lapse Of Reason and The Division Bell I can appreciate even just with my ears, because for me, music sometimes needs to be “light.” I say goodbye by repeating that despite the small disagreement, I absolutely understand and respect your viewpoints. Bye.

So I think I'll start with Automatic For The People. Just to be clear, I won't be disappointed. Thank you.

I don't have anything by REM, what do you recommend I start with? I really like Everybody Hurts and Daysleeper wasn't bad either.

Why is it embarrassing, know-it-all? You make a lot of comparisons saying it's worse than other albums but you don't say what you particularly dislike. I believe that if it had been the debut album of a new band, someone would have hailed it as a miracle, but it’s Pink Floyd (and without Waters, no less) so it’s crap. In my opinion, if an album is good, it’s good, regardless of who made it and regardless of comparisons. If you don’t like it for valid reasons, that’s another story, and I respect tastes that differ from mine.

Well Deniel, if you don’t like Beggars Banquet, which is one of the best, maybe the Stones aren’t for you. If you tell me what you didn’t like, I might be able to recommend something else. Otherwise, if you’re not sure, you could try Stripped, it’s a semi-acoustic live album (in my opinion the best) that gives a fresh twist to some classic hits from the past. I hope I was helpful.

"It's not the same for 'Angel,' much sweeter and the singer is better than that, you can't get more." Can you explain what it means...? The content of the review is good (even though I've never heard this live) but grammar is not optional.

The album is not bad at all, but a 5 is a bit too much, come on... Perhaps if, after the legal troubles, the Pink Floyd brand had disappeared and they had released the album under a different name, it would be more appreciated now. After all, Waters' solo albums lack the typical musicality of Gilmour, and Gilmour's albums miss the compositional genius of Waters. A right balance between the two is a perfect compromise, but at that point, we would be back to talking about Pink Floyd...

Well no. Maybe 4 is a bit too much... Let's leave the review half a step higher on its own.

I really love "The Worst," and I disagree when you say that Richards’ contribution is minimal. I believe he is one of the few (if not the only) guitarists from the '60s and '70s who haven't "prostituted" their style over the years. The album is very enjoyable to listen to, even though, of course, it’s not Beggars Banquet, and the review (aside from that little "disappointment") follows closely behind.

"I Want a Little Girl" and "Son & Sylvia" give me that typical blues ballad melancholy that I absolutely love and wouldn’t trade for anything in the world. Here’s the most mature and "measured" Clapton I’ve ever heard, and no one can take that away from him. As for the review, well... I couldn't find a single flaw, which says it all. And then damn it, you only review albums that I like, damn you Uxo...
