Alright, I'll give him a chance; after all, he is still the Lion King... And then I want to trust you. Bye!

Uh, I would be guilty of pride, Grant, but I was thinking about a certain zannab, you know...?

Grant, you are too diplomatic; you remind me of someone... ;-)

I don't like two things: the analysis of grunge as a music genre (to me, it’s something entirely different) and the need to necessarily search for revolution in Nirvana. Their importance in the social/musical world is undeniable, as is their mythologization. The review remains very beautiful and comprehensive, even if it’s yet another one... Bye.

Damn, he took the words right out of my mouth. I'm not a fan of Radiohead either, but I like this album, and quite a bit. The sterile discussions that arise about other reviews remind me of the usual talks about albums by famous bands that have one or more masterpieces in their past discography: you can never just listen to the album and say "it's good," "it's bad," "it's nice but doesn't excite me," and so on; there will always be a bunch of people saying "compared to album x, it's crap, they’ve ended." Then there are those who expected psychedelia, some who expected rock, others who wanted distorted guitars, and when they didn't find them, they trash it. Oh, of course, if you don’t like it, you don’t like it, amen, but I was hoping for a bit of electronics in the style of Kid A/Amnesiac, and instead I found something else that, despite the lack of electronics, I still enjoy. Sometimes I’d like to see fewer prejudices and a bit more objectivity (within possible limits, of course). Sorry for the rant; I’m doing it here because if I had done it in a review (this isn’t one, it’s more of a provocation, and the rating speaks for me) I wouldn’t have had enough time to read all the insults…

I listened to the song samples on Amazon. My first impression is that they are all very slow pieces (except for Gone gone gone) with very minimal arrangements and voices always front and center. Did I get it right? Or is there some arrangement that’s a bit more refined?

I agree with Paloz. The Zeppelin in 2007 would really make little sense. A concert to remember the old days is fine, but an album no.

Hi Captain! I listened to the cover of Smell on the tube and I don't mind it at all. I would never dare to say it's better than the original (someone might send the NAS to my house) but as a non- fanatic of Nirvana, I really appreciated the rearrangement for solo piano and the pathos that the singer conveys... On the other hand, when it comes to covers, I also lean towards reinterpretation (some things by Mehldau come to mind) rather than a faded copy. Bye!

But is it true that you're anonymous? Nice biography, Captain, I would say "curtain" the review... Still always appreciated. Ah, maybe next time you could avoid the anonymous ones... Best regards!
