Hitchcock said that if he had known about the difficulties in making this film beforehand, he would have never tried. But he did it anyway, and he did it brilliantly. Hitchcock, the king of thrillers, this time made a horror... and he did it very well. Very different from the mysteries of Evan Hunter. (Ed McBain) I prefer at least two or three other Hitchcocks.
