Nirvana In Utero

Great album, it's a shame that, in my opinion, it loses a bit in the second half of the record... Pennyroyal Tea and All Apologies excluded of course...

How disgusting!!

Come on DaveJon, we need to be objective: I'm also a fan of Italian prog, but from a vocal standpoint, besides those mentioned by Lord (and I would add Gianni Leone and Nico Di Palo, as well as the immense Francesco Di Giacomo... immense in every sense!! ;-)), the singers weren't exactly great voices, in fact. Sure, they weren't terrible, but some struggled to keep up with the other musicians, you understand what I mean?

Oh my God, out of all the quotes you could have chosen, you went with Scaruffi... to put it mildly: I'm not a big fan!!
Genesis A trick of the tail

I have to tell you that you're not wrong, anonimarco! I also think that in some ways The Lamb... is very overrated. I definitely prefer Selling England.., Foxtrot, Nursery Cryme, and Trick... This album is one where the Genesis remain at the level of their previous works. Just look at an acoustic gem like Entangled or the beautiful Ripples... not to mention the intricate Dance on a Volcano. Great album!!

That some passages resemble Depeche Mode I don't think reflects reality. Some have seen a resemblance in this latest work, but I haven't seen it. For the rest, I believe they have recovered certain grandiloquences of the past, which I really enjoy and that few possess. Moreover, I believe that Bellamy is truly a brilliant musician, very versatile and capable of giving chills with his voice. They are also very "classic" in the construction of some of their pieces; take "Butterflies and Hurricanes" from Absolution or the scale progressions in NewBorn in Origin of Symmetry, all while remaining accessible to most. I don't think that's a small feat. On the contrary, I am surprised that you do not enjoy them.

And watch out!! I'm not one of those who completely dismiss the '80s Genesis!! To say that Abacab, for me, is a solid 4 stars!!!

I pretty much agree on Duke, although I would always leave 3 stars. The beginning of that album hinted at a return to the good old days, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case....

So, I completely agree with DaveJon regarding the criticisms of Pink Floyd, and I would like to understand who this person is that dreams of slamming a whopping 8 Pink Floyd albums!! A madman!! (Assuming it’s just one person...)
As for Muse, I will continue to disagree because I truly don't understand how you can say they copy entire solos from Italian bands of the 70s. And to think I’ve listened to plenty of bands from that era, especially Italian prog. But I have never found the similarities you mention. I believe that Muse is one of the most interesting bands of recent years for their originality in today’s mainstream landscape. Because, like it or not, their originality in the mainstream is undeniable. Still within their realm, mind you!! Which is not and will never be that of the bands you've brought up (Symphony X, Dream Theater....)

A discreet album pervaded by a great underlying melancholy, which is noticeable already from the cover. Very nice are Down and Out, Undertow, and Many Too Many. On the other hand, the single Follow You Follow Me is unbearable: I've always hated this little song, it gives me hives!
