Well, I can agree with you that in the recent seasons of The Simpsons, Groening often pulls the handbrake. But, for heaven's sake, after 20 years, it can be expected! The Griffins seem childish and boring to me even now.

The Simpsons are at risk of keeping company with Fry, Bender, and the gang from 'Futurama' for as many light-years as they are away from the ugly copy 'Griffin.' Matt Groening is great, Seth MacFarlane is an idiot with the humor of an elephant.
