Billy Wilder Quando La Moglie E' In Vacanza (The Seven Year Itch, 1955)
Voto:
When I think of Marilyn, I always wish to find myself in the same situation as Ewell\Sherman. This stunning play is her 'manifesto', Wilder as usual a giant. But her naked in the pool in the unfinished 'Something's got to give' (1962), shall we talk about it? Venus rising from the waters, an icon.
Sidney Lumet Quel Pomeriggio Di Un Giorno Da Cani (Dogday Afternoon)
Voto:
Polè, do you really miss it?! Make up for it right away, one of the best Lumet. Perhaps the first to reveal on screen the modern media short-circuit that devours everything (only to spit it out). The TV god that does not back down even in the face of dramatic events, like a grotesque bank robbery that can turn into a tragedy. And it gives its 15 'famous' minutes to Sonny (great and tender Pacino) and Sal (the never overly lamented Cazale), desperate and losing anti-heroes; right from their clumsy entrance into the small shady bank.

But yes, I vote too. To hell with Arnold.

In the end, they won't do a damn thing to Ron Dennis, let alone to the genius 'nirvana 77'... Curious album, the cover resembles 'Off the Deep End' by 'Weird Al' Yankovic. :)

This is the 2.0 'censored' version, otherwise they wouldn't publish it: the 'superfluous epilogue' is missing, but it would have given a more Italians of values sense to the whole thing… Eh, an 'absurd' ending thought of like Hendrix's solo in 'Voodoo Child (Slight Return)', an analytical-existential portrait of the average debaser user; what a pity, it would have been like 'Death Proof' with its 30 minutes of 'extra' - complete and enjoyable! :D
Interpol Our Love To Admire
Voto:
And what about the paraculismo u2 of 'Pace is the trick' then? Interpolli are past their prime, an now useless and annoyingly calligraphic band.
The Shins Oh Inverted World
Voto:
Best Shins album: wilsonian, harmonious, and delicate like a sunset on the beach.. Practically perfect pop gem.

For me, he remains sempre the King of the jungle (at least he hasn’t lost his lion’s mane)..

Regarding the texts, okay, it’s not the Corgan of the good old days (the poetic cynicism of 'SD' or 'MC' is almost a memory..) but we can’t always expect references to Hegel or Schopenhauer in every chorus & verse: for that, I’m good with Battiato.
Joe Dante Gremlins

Mike, good ol' Cates (childhood erotic dream in 'Paradise') but where do we place the super babes of the '80s Kelly LeBrock or Tanya Roberts?
